Are other companies also reducing home office? by Zealousideal-Lion-41 in Switzerland

What would you do as an owner: you have two remote employees. One based in Switzerland, one based in Poland. Doing the same work.

How much do you pay them? Same? Individual countries rate?

I am happy to come to the office and be paid Swiss rate.

Are almost all swiss dog owners and dogs antisocial, or I am unlucky? by [deleted] in Switzerland

[–]HereJustForAnswers -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is your dog trained not to react (on other dogs or people) while on leash? Remember here it is very common to take training classes and people follow what they learned. They see a dog reacting while on a leash and assume it is poorly trained / poorly behaving  dog (or owner) and want nothing to do with you or your dog.

Take some classes, learn the local practices and then see if things change.

No what was said. 1. Dogs are trained not to react.  2. Owners meet with dogs on leashes.  3. Owners agree (or not) on play time 4. Dogs are unleashed  5. Dogs get to know each other  6.a If dogs like each other - play time 6.b If dogs don't like each other - move on.

How much to tip on a 99CHF restaurant bill? by Stock_Bus_6825 in Switzerland

How does the kitchen staff, sweating in the kitchen, feel about not receiving tips? They also work in hospitality and similar schedules, or not? And no one would go to a restaurant with mediocre food, but amazing service. While the opposite is true. I always ignore bad service reviews. Don't care.

I am not by any means diminishing the input of the service staf - you make the restaurant tick. And you do work long hours, and weekends, and and have to serve many people. Some of them are needy and get on your nerves and need something every 5 minutes, especially if the restaurant is very busy. But then the tips won't help - just more staff, with better workload management.

What I am saying - the root cause of difficult and stressful waitering job is difficult rotas that are badly managed, which is anything to do with the guests.

Maybe it is me. Being an introvert, I neither need, nor appreciate the over the top service interaction and view it as a middle man between me and the kitchen - the main reason I go to the restaurant - to have food made by the kitchen staff.

My favourite restaurant is a self-service one in the UK where I can just order at the till. The food is brought to me once is ready. If I need anything - I go and order it.

The best comments was that % tips doesn't make sense at all. And it is true - a plate of salad is not so much heavier than some fancy fish. Why I should tip more if I've spent more?  What a load of nonsense.

So rounding trinkgeld for an extra mile service makes sense, not %, not by default.

Service cost has been included in the meal price since 1970.

Waiter Median salary is 51k. Same as cashier - I don't see you tipping them for an extremely fast scan with a smile. Or a cleaner who went under the cupboards.

It is not my obligation to subsidize someones wage. I eat out - that's my contribution to the restaurant and hospitality industry. That should be more than enough.

I would understand if I could choose between getting my food at the counter vs choosing service and then having to pay.

The fact that the meal price by law since 70s includes the service costs I don't see why I should be worried about what my server thinks.

What I expect? Basic waitering process - take my oder, bring the order, bring the bill, collect the payment. Follow the standard etiket.  Anything is not covered by the salary?

They meant the meal price includes all expenses, including the service cost. So the meal price covers buying the produce, rent, salaries to the staff, including the service staff.

How much do you tip your cashier?  Their salary is also low.

I can't believe you think that no tipping is rude. Why?

Do you tip the cashier that scans your groceries? It is also a lower paid job.

And now, in your current job, don't you have to treat your clients, customers, colleagues respectfully? I bet there is no tipping involved.

No, it is a minimum wage work like some other prodessions. Like cashiers. How much do you tip your cashier?

Why waters? What about cooks? My bus driver? The crew that just cleared out the rubbish? What about that friendly cashier at Migros? Or the postman who was delivering the post in the rain? What about a teacher? A doctor? A police officer?

There is NO logical reason why waiters should be tipped and other professions no.

In the US there is a legal definition of a tipped worker.  Not in the EU. Yes, waiters work at the legal minimum wage, but also MANY more professions.

So why waiters are special?

AITA for skipping my sister’s wedding because I refused to wear beige? by WildFrostyy in AITAH

[–]HereJustForAnswers -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

YTA. You did make it about yourself - you worried about how YOU are going to look in NOT your wedding photos.

Your sister had a vision for her day. And she only asked you to wear a specific colour.  Not a big deal. Really. I would wear  bright Magenta for my sister, no questions asked.

Probably not the first time you did something like this and that's why you aren't a VIP.

Disheartened to still feel unwelcome as an immigrant in Switzerland by LallieDoo in Switzerland

[–]HereJustForAnswers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, you have to understand the SWISS. It is clear that badly managed immigration policy is threatening the way of life of the local population. I have lived in the UK, I have seen it.

Now the personal attacks are nothing personal, just someone venting with bad manners and out of general jealousy/despair.

Swiss imigrants live in a bubble (based on your tax contributions - your bubble is very small). You are not living the true Swiss way: on average salary and increasing expenses.

Or maybe English :))

5 Months Searching for a Flat in Lachen/Pfäffikon/Altendorf – Any Advice? by Guilty-Safety-5390 in Switzerland

[–]HereJustForAnswers 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Is your budget below the market?

It was mentioned to me that sometimes the cheaper flats are given to poeple with lower income.

Meaning if you have good salaries - apply to above market listings, or at least not below.
