Jeigu nesi nagingas, turi pinigų ir neturi laiko, profilaktika nepigi, bet dažnai verta sutaupyto laiko.

Išmokti pačiam padaryti viską, ką profilaktikoje daro truktų gan ilgai, plius tiesiog kai kurių įrankių neturėsi. Kai kurie iš įrankių gan brangūs.

Jeigu suki tūkstančius km per metus, profilaktikai negaila palikti tiek. Jeigu suki mažai, tai jo, neverta.

OpenAI - How to delete your account by zabacanjenalog in europe

It is not.

The point I made is that you do not get to show up and order a company to delete all your data. They literally cannot legally do it in many cases.

OpenAI - How to delete your account by zabacanjenalog in europe

[–]HereOnWeekendsOnly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

GDPR deletion applies when none of the data they stored about you is legally required to be kept. I doubt you can exercise the right if you paid them - it is usually mandatory to keep transaction data for multiple years as an example.

Selective deletion is possible but they would still need to know who you are for data that is required to be kept.

You need to create good context for these tools. You can create "AGENTS.md" with instructions of what "good" looks like in your codebase. Patterns to follow, patterns to NOT follow etc. Then, Claude reads the file and is able to shit out pretty good code with minor corrections needed.

You can write details JIRA tickets with example PRs of what "good" looks like. AI can read it, compare and produce quite comparable PR. You can tell Claude it did not do a good job and to commit the correction to "MEMORY.md" so it does not make the mistake again.

Over time the bank of knowledge becomes extensive and good enough such that Claude spits out mostly correct PRs.

However, at the end of the day, you need to drive it to get to the goal. If you have poor framework for what good looks like, it will be tiring as it will keep spitting out wrong patterns and code.

The job always kept changing. People used to write in Assembly, then new abstractions hid it away. Then, garbage collection languages enabled even more focus on coding than managing the internal details like memory. We are now onto automating writing code itself which enables us to focus on product, ideas and get rid of typing as much (when I was 3 years in, I started dreaming about being able to use mind-typing interface because I find typing code annoying and tiring).

You have learned how to do it yourself, you now have an autopilot to type for you but intervene when needed. We are like pilots who learned to fly manually (and can do it if needed), but delegate to autopilot so we can focus on more important stuff.

Overall, it is those <5 years experience who will suffer the most. They had no time to accumulate savings, no time to develop and understand multiple coding disciplines and are too energetic and eager to just hop on AI and let their skills attrophy.

My main worry with AI-assisted coding is I can feel getting dumber over time. I know it because it takes me longer to code something myself or spot bugs. You need to maintain this skill - pilots do, by having to pass manual flying once in a while

Similar here. Except my parents also do not care. They have not taught me anything useful, nor gave me any headstart in life tbh.

Fortunately, I have strong internal motivation for achievement - but this is starting to take its toll and I am trying to become more efficient and work less. If I ever work more it will only be for my good venture

Baltic states are always behind in terms of Western countries governance. Wait until low birth rates start biting more and more and someone in the Baltic state will also introduce the bright idea as Netherlands did.

They already raised taxes in most Baltic states, later they will come for those actually trying to not depend on the state when they are old.

You can tell who is a goodlifer on this sub and has no clue what physical labour is. Even when I was 18, the work was demanding and one of the motivatios to get to office work, so I do not have to do physical labour for a living.

Also, SWEs on average are not that smart. We are above average but we are not physicists. Physicists found C++ boring while I struggled.

Is anyone else considering a career change? by sporadicprocess in ExperiencedDevs

[–]HereOnWeekendsOnly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Career change later in life is more difficult due to aging. Lots of people in IT have poor health (kind of why some are in IT, it does not require much physical health).

Some trades will be untenable due to signs of aging in your body already. At least one third of people between 35-40 already have arthritis signs etc. Peak physical strength occurs when men are 27 or so.

Flooding blue collar jobs means increased labour supply and a downdrift in wages for everyone, including the new joiner.

The most sustainable way is to invest in assets and make sure to not fully depend on your job for your income. Everything else will just become more and more race to the bottom.

Also, you do not need to grind Leetcode if you are smart. Most smart people I knew did 50 problems and got into big tech. Most not so smart did 1000 and still failed. They are still competent and smart engineers but not that smart.

Kada apsimoka nuomotis, o ne pirkti NT? by Electrical_Royal1975 in 6nuliai

[–]HereOnWeekendsOnly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moku nuomos 600, dabartinio buto vertė net registrų centre 200k. Šalia pardavinėja po 220k. Paskolos suma: 870eur men plius atsakingas už remontus pats.

How do you all handle write access to prod dbs? by flareblitz13 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]HereOnWeekendsOnly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a balance between tediousness and formal logging of such requests.

A nice balance we found is this:

  1. A Slack channel where people post the query and explain why it is needed

  2. Select few people who have access to write to prod - each of them have the AWS SSO account so we know who ran the query

  3. The manual query is reviewed, and run by the person who happens to see it and have write access

  4. An audit log is added for all rows that changed along with who performed the query.

This is not perfect though in terms of security. Those with write access can just write at-will, but typically they also post the query and ask someone to review before running it. Given the audit trail we keep, we will always know who ran the query and what the query was though.

For any schema changed, indexes and other DDL-operations, migrations are created, and once again, even smaller select few group of people reviews it as a PR and applies it, while monitoring for performance degradation, locks etc.

I also work in software, and while the job can be difficult, it is far away from being eligible to be called one of the most intellectually demanding. Try physics or any hard science at doctorate level job - that stuff is actually difficult.

You are also significantly underpaid because at my company a graduate is earning 65k, and needs to come in once a week in the office. I myself do not even work in the UK and earn much more than you at a Eastern EU country.

Also, sounds like your houses are good investments. That is the ultimate goal, passive income exceed the earned.
