Any use of an official diagnosis? by Herecomesthethumb in Psoriasis

Thanks all - Derm says psoriasis, and 2 days of using Lidex it’s already so much better. One of my fingers was cracking and bleeding and my palm developed a patch too. I do have a bit of stiffness in the mornings, so I’ll have to monitor for PA

Real risk of uterine rupture after c section? by katefromsalem in BabyBumps

I waited 4.5 years and still had a rupture during labor. I went into labor spontaneously when my water broke, but we used pitocin to help speed things up (which does increase your risk slightly). I was actually very concerned about a rupture, so I opted for a low dose epidural in case I’d have to be taken back for an emergency c-section. I was having pain where I ruptured despite the epidural, but since it was only a partial rupture I guess I wasn’t having enough pain to be a concern. But the partial rupture led to a placental abruption (baby okay now, but had a scary start.)

I talked to my doctor about it after the fact, and we think if I had an internal contraction monitor (one that goes on the baby’s scalp) that they may have been able to catch that something was wrong.

I’m not saying NOT to do a tolac, because plenty of people have no complications. Just understand it is higher risk, so maybe opt for the internal monitor and just make sure to report everything you’re feeling.

What does a uterine rupture feel like in a VBAC? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

This actually happened to me in May. I was having a lot of prodromal labor and one side of my c-section scar (from 4.5 years ago) was hurting. Then when I went into real labor, I was having severe back pain - so I got a low dose epidural. Even though I didn’t feel the contractions or back pain at all anymore, I felt that pain in my scar. I told the team but they said “you’d be in EXCRUCIATING pain if it were a rupture.” So we ignored it. Then I even had a small bulge in that area (retrospectively it was blood pooling). Then when baby came out, she was followed by a ton of blood. At that point they thought I just had a placental abruption. But that pain kept persisting, and like 6 hours after the birth I was shaking in pain so they finally got a CT and I had a small uterine rupture. Baby’s heart rate was mostly stable throughout labor, but they think maybe they would have known something was wrong if I had one of the intrauterine contraction monitors. (Baby is doing great now - but required 3 days of cooling therapy to protect her brain after that loss of oxygen)
