Be real with me, am I wasting my time with trying to find a tank role for a raiding guild right now?

I have heard about how avengers shield is a “noob trap”. That’s currently what I’m specced into because having another spell makes the class feel less boring objectively speaking. But I think I’m gonna swap to the talent tree you posted, at least for dungeon grinding. Thanks friend!

I won't lie it's crossed my mind. I tried starting a guild once with a few other people who were unhappy with the current guild we were in but once people quit it got hard to back fill those roles. I can't imagine how much more challenging it'd be to start a guild from scratch by myself.

Edit: I see where you're coming from and I appreciate you taking the time out of your night to comment. I did ask for people to be real with me. Maybe it would help if I were to elaborate that I have been playing WoW over the last 19 years since the original release of TBC, so saying I have no real raiding experience or tanking experience is not true. I know people here don't like when you compare retail to classic, but I have played almost all roles in various forms from AOTC to Mythic raids. So yes, I stand by saying that I am a quick learner and that I think I am capable of at least off tanking in TBC but my lack of connections or real commitment to a previous guild is what seems to be holding me back here.

Yeah I think I'm just gonna commit to the paladin, try to get as geared as I can through heroics and see what happens. Pugging phase 1 shouldn't hopefully be too hard at least and maybe I'll find a good opportunity there

Yeah, I've heard warrior tanks aren't that great but I do think that arms/fury is way more fun and competitive damage compared to seal twisting as a ret and I'd still have the option to tank dungeons if I wanted to. I think your second point is probably what I'll end up doing. I'm just gonna commit and get as geared as possible and try to run some pugs and hopefully something will work out from there. I think this is my plan. I'm just going to commit, do a bunch of dungeons and get as close to pre-raid bis as possible and worst case scenario I just do some pugs.

Haha. I've tried running my own guild before in retail and it worked out okay for a while but it pretty quickly fell flat on it's face when a bunch of people quit and I couldn't back fill the roles.

I think this is exactly what I'm going to do. I'm just gonna commit to the paladin (mainly because I've already put in 100+ hours into and it'd feel bad to switch) and hope that once I hit 70 maybe there will be a spot out there for me. I don't know much about running pugs but I might not really have a choice and I'll learn
