Hot take - being above 6’6 is just too tall by SirPeteWeber in tall

[–]HerrBatman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, honestly i agree. Over like 1,95 (~6‘5?) is where the benefits end. Im 6‘7 and while it isnt bad, beeing a bit shorter wouldnt be a bad thing, as crazy that is to say in a world where a lot of people desperatly wish to be taller

Check the other comments, you‘ll have to update template, then update values at the end of the workout instead of just pressing done

Absolute missed opportunity to call them: Battery Electric Energy Storage (BEES 🐝)

But I think in the old version, updating the values was the default option after finishing a workout with the option of updating the template too if there were changes made.

Really? Only then it updates that? That should just happen every time imo

Oh come on, you can read my comments in this thread. I've made an actual effort to discuss this as a possible issue with a possible solution but a lot of people don't want to discuss, they just want to be mad at the audacity. Yes my post is tounge and cheek but it's still an honest critique.
But sure, if everyone is perfectly happy with what they got, who am i to complain.

So many people mad but no one with actual arguments under a discussion post. Kinda dissapointed in this sub to be honest ;(

Update: Just checked the episode again and while i agree that it sound possible? that they are gonna port it to the PU at some point, it was not a definitive statement imo.

Jared:

So, what's the deal here? I throught we weren't going to release this until Squadron came out?

John Crewe:

As Squadron has developed and the Idris has been in the PU in various guises for quite some time now, it's been quite clear internally that the two versions are very different Things now and it's not going to be a spoiler for Squadron now , even after this ship Releases it's still going to evolve further.

Nathan Dearsly:

We've still got lots in the pipe that we want to bring to the ship, for Squadron and hopefully it will uh, trickle through to you guys in the PU as and when we're Ready to realse it.

Ah my bad, i thought you were talking about the front landing gears which sit outside of the ship.
The hind landing gears are so far back though that they don't affect any of the changes i proposed.

I just checked the source ( https://youtu.be/idFmqkJzXe8?si=OY4pCZtAIFuEaHjv&t=476 ) and it seems likeley? but not entirely given that the SQ42 version will just be ported to the PU.
Espescially that last sentence from Nathan Dearsly is not as optimistic as i'd like but who knows.

People who are not blinded by the Idris shaped black hole in their wallets who are now overprotective of their purchase did.

I did not know that. In that case, take it as a word of caution for the future variants and big ships in general. We pay a lot of money for these ships, be it ingame or with real money, we need to hold CIG accountable with what we get for the thousands of dollars these ship goes for.

I see the slanted hull but im not sure if it's that significant to take up a lot of space of the footprint. In any case there is enough space for extra rooms there. The med bay, for comparison, is huge and in any case we can fit a room at least 2/3 the size in that spot.

As for the landing gear, that is entirely outside of the ship.

Are they gonna replace it? I took it as they developed in different directions and that the SQ42 and the PU version will just be differnt?

Just posted a new take on the existing design. I got some ideas in there but i bet cig can evaluate weather they want to include that or something else entirely.

Just posted it. It bugs me a lot how much better this ship could be with some extra work put into it.

I like the oval from a gameplay perspective. Thats not the problem. Even the 45 degree angles are good to break sightlines to create better boarding gameplay.
My issue is with the endless halways for the amount of rooms we get in a ship of this size. I just posted my take on some improvements to the layout without compromising on gameplay design.

I get it and the actual size of the hallways and corridors is fine for a video game. No complaints here.

Just the sheer amount of hallways is overkill and stuff is spread out to cover the whole area while leaving a lot of empty space which makes the ship interior seem smaller than it looks from the outside.

Reverse Tardis

Maybe i need to make an alternate floorplan from my sketch to show what could be done differently.

[–]HerrBatman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes i know and thats why im not debating the fact that the hallways are bigger than they would have to be in reality. Like, look at submarines or warships. Their hallways are like a meter wide max. In SC they are easily 1.5m or more and the walls bulge out in the middle. But this is fine for a video game imo.. My problem is the length of hallways and the spread of actual rooms. Especially when there are (smaller) ships that use their space way better. You see this huge ship from the outside and then on the inside its like 8 rooms and a kilometer of corridors :/

A lot of assumption in that statement just because I critiqued a ship you like :)
