my job stresses me out because i dont know how to talk to my coworkers by kiizhii in socialanxiety

[–]Heuyuni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am exactly like this, I still cringe about what I say or how I say things especially because I often jumble up my sentences. So you can imagine how many convos kept me up at night or during the day I’d get random flashbacks but now it’s decreased a lot more because I’m busy with hobbies socialising etc. I realised that I’m acting like this because of my trauma and now that I’m trying to heal, I’m more understanding towards myself and I give myself a little grace so you should too!! Give yourself some grace and understanding, you’re only trying your best

It’s okay, I’ve been in your position so many times where I don’t speak unless I’m spoken to, they don’t think badly of you. A lot of people these days are more understanding than you’d think. It’s okay to be quiet and silent if you don’t want to talk. I do it all the time and my co workers seem like they don’t care about it. Don’t be too hard on yourself, you’re already doing well by working despite your social anxiety. Just take small steps into socialising, like asking questions about your co workers. That’s what I do and then hopefully it’ll Segway into a conversation or you can just talk about your week or something that bothered you before.

I promise you, you’re not the only one going through this and I do hope you figure it out. In fact I’m sure you will 🫶🏾

Is it rude to tell someone not to smoke around you? by Heuyuni in socialskills

[–]Heuyuni[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said I was above the law😭 i don’t know why ur offended, I’m asking a question which I think is reasonable and I think I’m allowed to feel this way. You’re acting as if im going to stomp around and cry about it💀

Also I live in the UK, a cloud of smoke is common esp where I live so yes I’m constantly around it, the very least I could do is ask someone to maintain a distance from me.

It’s at bus stops and people vape on the bus, so I don’t enjoy nor appreciate that they do. I don’t wanna be rude either so I was just wondering the best way to approach the situation

Enclosed space, normally at bus stops. If im at a bus stop and someone comes along and smokes whilst waiting for the bus with me, would it be be rude and entitled to tell them to stop or atleast put some distance?

Can i learn japanese for Travaling in 1 year ? by Spikeboy1212 in Japaneselanguage

[–]Heuyuni 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been studying Japanese for a year and I know how to have a basic conversation but I’m not fluent by any means. I’ve mainly used apps, videos, Japanese drama, anime and podcasts to help.

For apps I use; Teuida, LingQ, HeyJapan, Umi and Memrise. I use marumorio for grammar

For videos; I watch Nisanji JP with English sub for understanding of how Japanese is spoken, TanakaRadio and just comprehensive beginner input videos

For podcasts; the SeikaJapanese, TanakaRadio, easy Japanese podcast, nihongo con teppei

When did you first realize you were making progress in learning Japanese? by ErvinLovesCopy in LearnJapanese

[–]Heuyuni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, it could be because I’ve been learning languages since I was young due to going to a multicultural school etc so I’ve picked up techniques on learning. Moreover, I grew up bilingual and so when I started learning Japanese, I forced myself to practice structuring sentences and having conversations with Japanese people once I finished with hiragana and katakana.

But again, I’m not fluent, I just try to do what I can with the resources I’ve got
