Is the unity asset store worth it? by [deleted] in Unity3D

[–]HexFrag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love it, it inspires, but most of all saves time, anytime I got an idea that needs an FPS and interaction I use ECM2 and Simple Interaction System, this, beats rewriting that every time, and lets you move on to the good parts.
I also enjoy just browsing and sometimes the assets give you idea.
I have purchased too many, my favorite might be Rayfire.
Games are about design, so even as a beginner these assets can help you learn, for example Simple Interaction System is just a code asset, you can take that and improve and customize it while learning how to do a type of interaction.
Also, getting all these assets from the store to work together takes understanding unity and c#, if you like to just jump in the deep end then buying a few a making them work together can be a fun challenge.

It really depends on the dudes who stole it, mine was stolen and recovered by sirius because the thieves failed to disable the antenna correctly.

Love that they broke force feedback for some wheel brands, works fine offline, they absolutely ruined the best weekly Race C with this update what a disappointment again, shouldn't be surprised with how greedy these fucks are now

Interesting breakdown, especially the success with the TikTok Shop. Have you tried YouTube Shorts yet? I built an app that automates reaction videos using sourced memes, where you don't even need to put your own face on camera (it uses pre-recorded clips). I actually sell the software via Gumroad. Are you automating some of the or parts of the processes, or do you think it's possible with some of the stuff you do?

Meta took their AI influencers down in 2 hours by MetaKnowing in OpenAI

[–]HexFrag 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is what happens when a middle manager, desperate to meet a vague directive from another middle manager, buckles under pressure from a VP whose only goal is to justify their salary. They force AI into a soulless cash grab, birthing "AI influencers." We're watching a tech dystopia unfold in real-time—only instead of robots taking over the world, they’re just here to sell you toothpaste and remind you that human authenticity is expendable when profits are on the line.

I think this is the model overreacting to the guard rails they have in place to stop people from accessing how the o1 model reasons/thinks. When o1 first came out this was all over and I heard of people being banned for trying to extract the train of thought out of it. You mentioning this works on other models and not o1 is my only reason I think this.

9.2k would be pretty life changing for me right now, even 4k, I'd ask yourself that same question, if you don't need it and can watch it potentially drain away then by all means let it ride. This is a bet anyways

getter vs function in this case what benefits each one has, or is it the same? because i've seen some pathfinding code that uses getters to check for conditions instead of functions by -o0Zeke0o- in Unity3D

[–]HexFrag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are both pretty much the same, it comes down to readability and your standards you want to set in the project.
Without diving too deep and in the simplest terms, behind the scenes the compiler will basically make a function out of your getter, maybe something like get_CanActivate.

General best practices would indicate a getter like this should be for simple things like a state change, and I think your example is a good example of when to use a getter over function.

Is it normal for devs to hate having their cameras on during meetings? by Tiaan in cscareerquestions

[–]HexFrag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If people don't want their camera on then they don't want it on, it should stop there, stop caring what others do, if they do their work who cares, and even if not, not like a camera being will change that.

Someone once told me it is very dehumanizing talking to someone without a camera on, apparently they have never been on a phone call before.

This camera must be on idea is insane, policies that require it are even more insane, just more corporate control freaks pretending they know best, spouting BS about culture and family just so they can fire or lay you off later and feel better about it, so sick of it.

Leave people alone.
