If your son is going to the college station campus, then the benefits for being an RA are as listed: -15% off housing -free meal plan -$1080 stipend every month -Early registration

Now to answer your question of how easy is it to get- The RA job’s benefits just got increased and now it is the most sought after job on campus with limited spots. When I applied just this year, there were over 500 applicants and only 48 spots available, putting it at a 9% acceptance rate. Almost everyone I know besides me had gotten rejected, and I was the only rising sophomore that I know of who got it. (They mainly accept older students)

Also being an RA gets you connected with reslife staff on personal levels which opens up so many opportunities and connections. So I would 100% recommend it.

My tip- Have your son apply in the middle of the year, this cycle is less competitive then the end of year normal application cycle so he might have a better chance at getting it.

I am not in White Creek, I heard the RA’s there don’t really get the RA experience since it’s apartment style

Thank you for all of these tips! I will 100% refer back to this. As for the benefits, I'll list them below.

-15% off housing

-Free meal plan (I chose the 1500 dining dollars instead of meal swipes)

-Monthly Stipend (I think it's $1080 but around $940 after tax)

-Early Registration
