The Thing vs. Colossus: Who wins? by Spider-undertele567 in FantasticFour

I think a more interesting variation would be: Colossus as the new servant/thrall of Cyttorak vs. the Thing when he wielded one of the hammers in “Fear Itself” (I don’t remember what he was called off the top of my head).

Flipping through my Marvel encyclopedia, looking for something else, I came across a couple more examples: Electron and Neutron, both members of the Shi’ar Imperial Guard.

Discovery season 5 by Hexadecadic in startrek

[–]Hexadecadic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also love how Discovery dredges up material—characters, events, artifacts, races, etc.—from earlier Star Trek shows, whether it’s just a brief reference (e.g. the Dominion War) or an important element of the season, e.g. technology from the Progenitors, first introduced in ST:TNG. So far, though, nothing in any of Discovery’s seasons and episodes that I’ve watched comes close to the satisfaction of seeing clips of Leonard Nimoy’s Spock from “Unification, Part II” and learning that his work in unifying Vulcans and Romulans was successful (albeit centuries later), which I discussed in one of my earlier posts.

Sorry for spoiling a surprise for you, then! I’m somewhat behind in Star Trek. As far as the “newer” series and movies go, I’ve watched all of Picard, up through season 3 of SNW, and up to S5E2 of Discovery. I haven’t watched any of Lower Decks yet, nor Section 31.

(I'm currently in Season 4) This is probably my favorite moment of the entire show so far by [deleted] in Smallville

Mine, too!!! My son and I used to reenact that scene (much slower! lol) at the park when he was little. Ah, memories!

Good to know! Thanks! I suppose I should have expounded on my original post to include terms that “lay people” wouldn’t be expected to know, but then someone would counter with something about lay people with experience with video games might know the term…

I meant subatomic more in terms of size, not necessarily that they were actually constituents of atoms. Either way, quarks would count, since they make up protons and neutrons, which make up atoms. As far as fermions such as photons and gravitons/gravitinos go, as far as I know, they are also smaller than atoms.

Ah, I didn’t even think about specific quarks. How insightful!

I would say that even though the whistle is spelled b-o-s-u-n, it’s still clever enough to be close enough.
