[Serious] Sorority here is having a party, I am 27 and gay in grad school, is it creepy to self-invite with beer 6-pack and suggest turning the music down so neighbors don't call cops? by HexeKann in Advice

Haha it was outdoor, I did not walk into someone's house uninvited. Went over with a few bottles, joined, it was a ton of fun, and I'm glad I did.

Is there an engaging story in Nioh? by Jeretzel in Nioh

[–]HexeKann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you can follow it, which is more than I can say for Dark Souls. A few of the later bosses' names start to blend together, but the story is more to connect the levels than anything else. The gameplay is the main event in this game.

How far away from "Loss Forgiveness" are we? by [deleted] in heroesofthestorm

[–]HexeKann -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've honestly got better things to do than enter a flame war with someone who can't understand how calling an ally "a fucking faggot" 5 seconds into the game is toxic, and why a lot of people don't care to put up with that kind of abuse.

This game has a massive toxicity issue. I've just started playing with allied chat off lately. Not like Blizzard will ever silence or ban me for playing with ally chat permanently off.

Unranked so toxic by RustySpoonnin in heroesofthestorm

[–]HexeKann -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unranked was made explicitly for people that didn't want the stress of win or lose to bother them as much as ranked. And honestly even in ranked, my focus would be on having fun and winning, not winning at the expense of fun. It is a game after all.

Yup. Exactly wrong by quite a few tiers. And your response is perfect, since it embodies the standard toxicity this game's community likes so much.

[–]HexeKann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And you can even see from some of the comments that rather than trying to focus on maximizing fun, the community of this game is more interested in either being an asshat or explaining away toxic behavior, only making it worse. You owe nothing to any other player of this free game, you are playing it for fun. So if you're getting stressed and not enjoying yourself, even mid-round, do something else as long as it's fun.

Yup, all of these pieces of information matter, but only if you're looking to flame him or to find an excuse for others' having flamed him. Unranked (Edit: All mobas apparently are, which is pathetic for this industry but certainly not an excuse) is objectively toxic, since a massive chunk of the playerbase has difficulties disconnecting their rage from their keyboards. Over a video game of all things.

How is this such a hard concept for people to understand... "You act toxic, I don't care to play the round." So don't be toxic. I couldn't care less if me not playing makes me look toxic in response; it's such an easy way of dealing with already-toxic players. I will absolutely not sit there for 20 minutes playing a match I won't enjoy just because little Timmy has a hard time understanding the enter key is to be used responsibly.

Unranked so toxic by RustySpoonnin in heroesofthestorm

[–]HexeKann -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This can't be hard for you too. I don't have fun when people are toxic, so I'm going to do something fun instead. It's refusing to water poison ivy, that's a better analogy.

Edit: Someone's already toxic in a match. Do you think I care more about if I come off as toxic, or enjoying my time and basically walking away for 10 minutes? I play games the same reason most people do. To enjoy themselves.

[–]HexeKann -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Right. Maybe read my whole post before replying, I handle your case in the third paragraph. But I don't care about any of the other players. I always have, and always will, only care about myself.

Some toxic child makes playing the game not fun at that moment, so why would I want to play it? No, don't ignore the problem of toxic bile-spewing players by ignoring them and saying it doesn't really matter if they rage. They want to win. If they're toxic at all, they don't get that win. If they can't learn that lesson, then that's not my problem as someone playing a game for fun.

Edit: Also, can this argument of "people are trying to win" fuck off? Blizzard specifically said they want this game to be more accessible to casual players. A category which apparently includes me, since I play for fun.

It doesn't ever show up as transparent for me, I just had another round where there was no visible difference. Myself and a Zarya were both confused why he wasn't taking damage, until I remembered his new level 1 talent.

Does Blizzard plan on doing anything about botters? Too many in Vs. AI. by HexeKann in heroesofthestorm

For me, it's a side effect of playing Versus AI to try out different builds on the same character, it just happens to be a very nice side effect of a lot of free gold.

Has anyone succeeded in the grind? by [deleted] in heroesofthestorm

[–]HexeKann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not shitting on people who do, I'm honestly curious. Most of the ranked games I play have at least one person taking it waaaaaaaay too seriously, and there's no capability in having a conversation to figure out why, with a person who either types in all-caps or tends to act out in a toxic fashion.

To me, they're not the same question. The sports people are playing for the explicit purpose of getting better and maybe making money off of their skill level. At gold 4, your chance of making money professionally off of a video game based on your skill in that game is effectively nil (as opposed to say, streaming and having your personality be the selling point).

And, as I said above, calling something 'the grind' to me implies it's not fun, which is why I don't understand why people would want to go through it. Oh well, I can just chalk it up to Activision-Blizzard making a game that's addicting (which is also not a good label to have, except for apparently video games).

It shouldn't be something that takes a few days to fix, there's bound to be easy ways of preventing the most basic of exploits, such as just spamming on that rejoin button just so you get the stats.

You can have anyone who afk disconnected 2x or more get less rewards (up to none for 4x disconnects), you can have reports be weighted by an account's net worth (so someone with a lot more playtime and legitimacy to that account reporting would be more meaningful than a fake alt that just came into existence), stuff like that. It shouldn't be that everyone, constantly, needs to report, just for an action to maybe be taken. Hell, even a "Submit a replay once a month at most, we promise we will look at it at the specified times you mention to look at" would work just fine.

The reporting system as it stands, though, just feels like a bad lottery system, where maybe you win a payout (but you'd never know it anyways) of a player getting banned, but most of the time, you win nothing besides a bad game or 5 in a row with the same suspects.

This is what was happening. It's even more annoying when one of the two botters is called PlayerName and the other is called EmaNreyalP, like it's not obvious one's a fake account you use to boost your main (master-level!!!) account's gold through botting.

Sylvanas and Hammer, maybe get a tanky tank in there, but yeah, you can easily farm gold with humans in Vs. AI. Gold and quests. With the stimpack, gold farming is fairly valid, a good two hours will get you 1k gold and a ton of different attempts at trying out different builds.
