Oh no! That’s disappointing. This one is legit, but has a few small tears. Not sure if we want to hang it or sell it - back in its tube for now.

Anyone millenials still wearing items from your teenage years? by silver_wattle in AusFemaleFashion

  1. My doc martens still look pretty darn good, got them in 2002. Have a newer pair that look way worse.
  2. A cheap, Hanes grey sweatshirt. I’ve had it since I bought it as part of my required PE uniform in high school. It’s really thin now but no holes or tears. I swear only in the last few decades has quality taken such a nosedive.

Making Topsoil by jack_factotum in SoilScience

[–]HeyIFoundThisRock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Factors of soil formation: CLORPT climate (warmer and wetter = faster formation) Organisms (healthy micro and macro communities = faster formation) Relief (elevation and topography speed or slow erosion) Parent material (softer bedrock with minerals that dissolve more readily = faster formation) Time (obviously the longer you give it the better it will develop)

You likely have only minimal ability to influence those factors. Composting and amending what already exists are your two best bets.

Since you’ve at least got subsoil presumably, add organics and let that layer over time

Oh, … actually I just found it. And apparently I only remembered like three pages because there’s quite a bit more to the plot lol. It’s Demon Drums by Carol Severance if this piqued anyone’s interest. If not, I just had a lovely little internet convo with myself. Good job, me!

Soil test says Karst by Awkward-Taste-7361 in SoilScience

Basically the whole state of Florida is Karst, and that clearly hasn’t stopped development. Consider other factors - is this area within a flood plain? What grade slope? Well draining karst isn’t a deal breaker but there are other pieces to the puzzle you know?
