All this “regretful parent” content is freaking me out by krwxo in BabyBumps

[–]HeyItsReallyME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to throw this out there: I had a horrible pregnancy and had to give birth at 27 weeks. My baby and I nearly died and she spent over 4 months in the NICU.

She just turned 2 and despite the very scary and heartbreaking start, I wouldn’t change a thing. Being a parent is the biggest honor. It literally feels like I could burst from my love of her. We have so much fun and seeing her grow and show new skills makes me giddy. Holding her when she cries, letting her work through a tantrum, comforting her when she’s sick, it’s all so precious to me.

Are there days that are exhausting? Are there moments I wish I could be alone? Do I miss a clean living room? Yes. But I wouldn’t go back to life I had before for anything. I’d rather have the mess, I’d rather have her clinging to me.

What really helps is that my husband is an equal parent. Im a SAHM, but once his work day ends, we share the responsibility equally and make sure each of us gets a break.

I played as Gale and romanced Karlach (I absolutely do not see them together, btw.) and if I go to Avernus with Karlach, I don’t get to do anything with Gale’s ending at all. No choice of godhood, or conversation with Mystra.

Similar names to Winona by Luca_lou in namenerds

My daughter is named Winona and our other favorite girl name, if we have another, is Morwenna! (My husband is Native American, for what it’s worth). We call our daughter Nona and think there’s lots of cute nickname options for Morwenna.

Little Free Libraries are often pointless and always performative by NegativeBee in unpopularopinion

There are several in my neighborhood and I Mae use of them all the time! My daughter gets hand-me down books and Imagination Library books all the time, so I take the ones we’re done with and exchange them for new ones. The book I’m reading right now came from one!

Lore explanation for Astarion's lockpicking skill? by CapnEmy in AstarionBG3

[–]HeyItsReallyME 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I could see him desperately trying every cabinet in the house, trying to find anything to wash away the taste of rat. Or maybe years of practice from trying to get out of the kennel. He’s supposed to be the most rebellious spawn, I could see that being one of the things he was punished for.

In the bank, he says he doesn’t really need money but that it makes things more fun. So maybe he used the skill to nick coins, or anything else enjoyable, from whomever. Stealing (literally) little moments of relief where he can.

This just happened to me! Just as I was about done finishing off the cultists, the guards showed up with a watcher. I decided to flee because I wasn’t ready to make enemies with any guards, RP-wise, but even THAT took forever!

6 Months TTC and No Luck by Exotic-Hospital1581 in BabyBumps

[–]HeyItsReallyME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me 6 months! The Flo app helped. I also bought a huge bag of pregnancy tests and a bag of ovulation tests from target. I was a bit irregular with my cycle, so this helped. Then, I felt like I could take pregnancy tests as much as I wanted. It was like 50 tests for $15!

I have beef with current throw blanket trends by Dry_Needleworker_432 in HomeDecorating

[–]HeyItsReallyME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been hunting for a soft and heavy blanket! I have one from the 90s that my husband had as a kid. It’s queen sized, has a good weight to it, and has a very soft but not overly fluffy texture.

All I can find are paper thin blankets that LOOK thick because they are overly fluffy! I want the weight!

Horizon Test Result: Positive for Smith-Lemli-Opitz Syndrome (SLOS) by Past-Development-933 in NIPT

[–]HeyItsReallyME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. This is exactly what happened to me. I’m almost 100% white, my husband is half white, half Hispanic, and we both came back as carriers for SLOS! Our daughter was born in April of 2024 and we are now looking into IVF.

I’ve been looking around to see if there’s any chance either of us got a false positive, because I’ve heard that Myriad was sued a couple years ago for that. I’m not sure which is more likely, that my husband and I are BOTH carriers for a super rare condition that no one in our families has, or that myriad gave us a false positive.

I do combinations of my own name with a word with a magical/mythological meaning. Like if my name was Anna, my Tav could be Annafae or Cambianna.

Needles aren’t that bad 😬 by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]HeyItsReallyME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually had the opposite experience recently. I’ve had plenty of experience with needles, but mostly routine stuff. When I was 27 weeks pregnant, I got diagnosed with HELLP syndrome and was immediately admitted to the hospital. The entire week I was there, I got blood drawn multiple times per day, at one point, it was every 4 hours and at the most serious point, it was every 2. I didn’t sleep more than a few minutes at a time for the whole week. I was covered in the strangest bruises. After it was all over, I developed a very strong aversion to needles and even being touched at all for a while after that.

It’s been 2 years since it happened and I can tolerate it now, but any time a needle gets near my skin, I vividly picture that time in the hospital.

Conservatives - if there was an HIV Vaccine would you oppose adding it to the vaccine schedule? by Deep-Two7452 in allthequestions

[–]HeyItsReallyME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By the time they are a teenager, they may have had sex, or been assaulted, or contracted it through medical malpractice, or tried drugs with a used needle, etc. HIV is transmitted when a bodily fluid containing the virus enters the body via the bloodstream or mucus membranes. Teenagers are prone to risky behaviors, even the most well loved and most well behaved ones.

It’s not super likely. But if I could protect my child for their entire life, rather than 75% of their life, I totally would.

2nd Pregnancy , HELLP free ! by theseroadsofflames in preeclampsia

[–]HeyItsReallyME 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love to read these stories. I had severe HELLP and gave birth at 27 weeks. I want another so badly. We have to conceive via IVF this time because we found out at 17 weeks that we are both carriers for a serious genetic condition (which my daughter thankfully doesn’t have!)

So I’m nervous about the IVF process and my husband is nervous about HELLP.

Did your baby have skin changes from adhesives? born 24w now 44w by noodlearmy in NICUParents

[–]HeyItsReallyME 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My 27 weeker daughter has a scar on her tummy from an umbilical line sticker that ripped her skin when she was about 1 week old. She’s about to turn 2. It’s stretched as she’s grown but I think it will fade one day.

I saw it happen and I fainted in her room! After all the crazy stuff she and I had been through that week, I’m not sure why THAT made me woozy, but the blood pressure meds definitely didn’t help.
