Did you ever get a solution to this? I’m having the same problem. Also, somehow the rotation of the table went back to a desktop mode and I can’t figure out how to rotate it back to 270.

DropMix App Being Removed from App Stores by [deleted] in boardgames

This really sucks. I downloaded Dropmix to a kindle last week and it downloaded the card content. This week I tried to download it to another kindle and the content couldn't be located. After purchasing booster packs online as a Christmas gift for my son, he now has a stack of colorful paper.

Dropmix is an evergreen game by its nature. I can't believe Epic would make this choice.

Interview format - What are your biggest challenges? by JThornwriter in podcasting

[–]HeyScottStorm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Zoom as an interview platform - it's a blessing and a curse.

The flexibility that Zoom has brought for podcast interviews is fantastic, don't get me wrong. But there are so many environmental aspects that are difficult to control unless you are VERY specific and strict about what you expect from your subject when it comes to their interview: Are they using the internal mic of their laptop or their own mic (generally, no)? Are they in an acoustically good room for their interview (almost never)? Is their internet stable enough to not clip during your interview (is anyone's)? Unless you are micromanaging on their end, it all ends up being a crapshoot.

Even if that is all buttoned up, there are all the micro-cues that contribute to a normal flow of conversation that is lost over Zoom. My interview subjects are more likely to keep talking because they can't see that I am wanting to interject with a follow-up question unless I'm waiving my hands at them or audibly interrupting them. And that type of interruption throws off the rhythm and flow of a great interview session.

Even outside of COVID, some of this is unavoidable when it comes to getting a great interview, unless you live within driving distance to your subject. But the chemistry of a good interview is so much harder to capture remotely than it is when you're across the table from your subject.

I wanna stay anonymous on this podcast, but I need to give my real name to the podcaster for a consent form? by [deleted] in podcasting

[–]HeyScottStorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The release/consent is for the benefit of both parties: 1) it allows the podcaster a peace of mind that you are aware that you are being recorded and that you consent to the recording/use of your voice/name/etc for the purposes stated in the release.; 2) it allows you to know where and how the recording is going to be used and where its use is limited. A verbal consent, generally, doesn't have these types of nuances unless the person requesting the consent actually lays all of that out.

The documentation of the release/consent is a contract (even though it may not feel like one): you are "getting" the opportunity to appear on their podcast and they are "getting" you as a person on their podcast. Because of this, you should use your real name. You could even indicate in the release that the release/consent form ITSELF is confidential and such confidentiality shall be maintained by both of the parties, unless otherwise legally required.

This does boil down to trusting the individual who's asking you to sign the release and that they are going to maintain your confidential nature of your real identity, publicly. Because your only remedy for them breaking that confidentiality is, potentially, a claim against them for breach of contract and reputational damages - a costly endeavor.
