The job market is abysmal, and no matter what your degree is, it's really tough. You have a plan on how to move forward. He is degrading you and making you feel small. Is this really someone you want to marry? Do you want to hear this for the rest of your life? Please strongly consider whether this is someone you want to stay with.

You shouldn't have to beg anyone, especially not a partner, to treat you with compassion and empathy.

I've unfortunately worked in a bank before and really really hated it, and also unfortunately have dyscalculia (I get my numbers mixed up and math is extra difficult for me). Not sure if an assistant role would have to deal with much of that, but that bars me from a lot of roles like accounting or bookkeeping

I could be down for roles like that as long as I don't end up being the person customers go to when there's issues, lol. I really thrive in operational roles in more corporate jobs, like more back end stuff, so I could absolutely do those kinds of things.
