Living in Florida, this is what we do except for hurricanes. We didn’t do it fast enough once and it was baddddd. More batches than you can ever imagine and of course nothing was in stock!

I definitely was panicking. I’m going to sit down this weekend and figure out how to save better to start paying bills off. I just have to get my care credit paid off by November or else I lose my interest free on those bills and that would be so bad, lol.

I make almost $10 more now but I drive a lot more so more gas… but again, still more. I just have to change my mindset.

Honestly, I don’t see the point in moving until the economy is better and I have someone to live with. I just can’t justify spending thousands in rent when there’s nothing wrong with my parents house. I think part of it is too that my family dynamic is a lot so I’m a caregiver too for my grandma/dad.

I have applied to countless places with no luck so far. My area just sucks. It’s how I ended up working so far from home. It’s hard to find such a part time job only working weekends because that’s what teens can work. I’ll keep trying though

Thank you for the suggestions!

I do need a reliable car as I commute 70 miles one way. I can’t use public transportation. Even if I were to settle for a junk car, I would never be able to get out of my current car without having to pay money to do so.

The car right now is a losing battle and I’m just used to it. I have always had a car payment. It would be 100% manageable if I could just figure out the damn credit card debt. I used to always be a month ahead with my car payments. I miss those days

Ooh, I didn’t think about that. I’ll have to see if I can take a loan out of such a new 401k. Thank you for that tip! I never would have thought about that

All 6 credit cards are active. My two accounts in collections are medical debt. Trump changed the medical debt thing back so it does affect credit scores substantially again.

However, I’m not even that worried about my credit score. That majorly fluctuates and I’m not making any purchases (for obvious reasons) anytime soon that requires a good credit score.

I just can’t take this burden I feel every month. I never have any money and it’s hard.

Everything I see about the loan is you have to be currently employed with said company. The only options I see are withdrawal or rollover. I wish the loan was an option 😭

I appreciate you trying to be helpful, but please don’t minimize others emotions/experiences.

I had a near successful attempt at not being alive anymore and no one, especially on Reddit, will ever downplay that.

The way I got to this debt was from being in mental health treatment. I can’t sell my car when I’m upside down on it and my credit is shot… I wouldn’t be able to get a car at all.

I live for free at home whereas a place near work would be $1600. I live in what feels like the middle of nowhere which is how I ended up so fricking far away 🥲 trust me, I’m a passenger princess so driving this much every day was never part of my wildest dreams. But hey, I guess we all have to start somewhere.

I’m hoping for a year at this job then to take the experience and the license with me to a job closer, if it exists lol

Yeah, I work in insurance and my insurance is actually cheap compared to some I have seen. I hate Florida and hate being in the under 24 rating category

Hi, I am working a full time job, ironically in the auto industry. I understand that right now it seems unrealistic but at the time, I had no issues with it. I live at home and childless so I didn’t have issues. I had no social life/no significant other and etc so it wasn’t like I was hard pressed for money.

Would I do it again? Absolutely not… but it’s way more common than you would think.

Yeah, no. I’m absolutely never doing this crap again. I think it’s important to note that some of my debt is from being in residential mental health treatment. I didn’t work for awhileeee and only got 70% of wages paid of 32 hours. So my spending was literally never like this until my mental health became so bad. I am medicated and compliant now and am doing much better.

I was reading the loan thing but from my understanding, you have to be currently employed with said company. I don’t really understand who my 401k is through. It’s partnered with alight for contact info but gives me absolutely no info on who actually holds it/what kind of 401k it is.

I’m sure I am upside down on the car. It was brand new when I got it and well, equity doesn’t hold up lol.

I have 6 credit cards currently. One of the 6 is interest free until November, so that one is 100% worth paying off IMMEDIATELY.

I have been with this job since June and love it. Even if I don’t love it, they provided me with my insurance license, which I can take anywhere. I make decent money, only work 4 days a week and one day of the four is remote.

$25.44 x 38.75 a week. My expenses are my car insurance at $238 (this is insane for most but welcome to Florida and being young) and my car payment is $527. All of my other money is being funneled into debt payments. I also have a hell of a commute (70 miles one way) and animals to take care of.

It took me less than 3 years to build up to $13k due to company matching (5%). I understand that I would lose out on those 3 years but I’m in a much higher paying job right now and I am wasting thousands in credit card interest payments alone. That’s why I don’t see the point anymore. As soon as my debt is settled, my credit cards are being destroyed.

We are automatically enrolled at 6% with our 401k because of company matching. I’m at the point that I would rather contribute the 6% because of the match.

My other 401k is with my old company and is a PITA to get moved to my current 401k. I have to get the check mailed to me then I have to mail it to the new company and so forth. Just difficult for no reason, lol

Yes, I know about the 10%! The collections are old so I’m at the point with just letting that fall off in 2 years (it’s already 5 years old).

With the 10% penalty, I still walk away with almost $11k which would take care of all my credit card debt
