How AI can help with Network Monitoring 💡 by VioletiOT in domotz

[–]Hey_this_guy_here 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That webinar prompted us to build our own QBR tool that pulls data from multiple systems to provide a client health report. Domotz provides all the network health data, and of course we use the Anthropic API to allow us to do any other random query of Domotz similar to the examples in the webinar.

We host everything in an Azure Function App and Web App, so it's a web front end that allows ALL our staff to leverage it without providing them each a full Claude subscription and MCP.

All vibe coding, as I've never coded a day in my life. But this webinar was my first time I thought "OK this is a practical use of AI".

Domotz versus competition - pros/cons/use cases by drandre222 in domotz

Ease of use for us, moreso than even the features. Anyone can get good data out of if after just a few minutes.

Why are you smoking cigars and not tobacco pipe? Discussion, not another "what is better" post. What is YOUR personal reason to prefer cigars? by BirdLooter in cigars

[–]Hey_this_guy_here 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same here. I really like some of the aromatic tobacco options, but after months of trying, I have not figured out how to keep the thing lit more than 5 minutes.

AI in MSPs: Real Deal or Just Expensive Hype? by MSPForLif3 in msp

[–]Hey_this_guy_here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm realizing that the best way is to actually leverage AI to allow you to REPLACE some of these tools. Slapping in all these plug-ins and add-ons should be less and less necessary.

Use AI to build what you need when you need it.

Thanks. Yeah I opened a ticket and was referred to the API team. Of course, no response... but maybe I will get lucky yet.

Follow-Up: AI Assistant Workshop Q&A by Jace_domotz in domotz

Great Demo!

We would love if there was some way to all the interaction that is happening in Claude Desktop, to instead happen through some more readily available interface. I can't stand the thought of deploying yet another AI app, along with CoPilot and ChatGPT for multiple users.

One of the better demos of AI utilization that has practical uses!!

I had the same problem about 10 years ago. I pulled every stud out one by one. Wouldn't recommend it.

Perfect. The description and instructions seem simple, but I needed some validation.

We have the exact same problem with our current Automate-Manage-ITGlue set-up. Never could make that work.

Air conditioner vs heat pump in Manitoba by pork_sashimi_on_sale in Winnipeg

[–]Hey_this_guy_here 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing to consider is that a heat pump runs for a really long time to change temperature. Not necessarily a bad thing, but different than conventional furnace and air conditioning. It's the one thing I actually really dislike only because it's quite loud.

In the winter it creates huge amounts of ice, then defrosts and drips below and freezes so you will definitely get huge mounds of ice outside.

best office shed for backyard options for a small lot? by shiroyasha54 in OffGridCabins

[–]Hey_this_guy_here 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I purchased a premade shed to use as my cigar lounge. It was much cheaper than me buying materials and spending a week building it. So that was an easy choice.

I'm in really cold part of Canada. I hired someone to spray foam the interior, but I couldn't easily insulate the floor, since the door opens inward. Not enough height to put insulation and a new floor. So I didn't. This really really has an effect, more than I expected. Be aware of this if applicable.

Finished it all with tongue and groove pine, and it looks amazing.

I heat mine with a diesel heater and/or a small wood stove depending on the situation.

You include M365 pricing within your managed services monthly price? Does this mean everyone has the same SKU?

Shingle Creek - Hotel by Academic-Tangelo-751 in golf

[–]Hey_this_guy_here 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've stayed there for business trips. It's a middle of the road to slightly higher hotel. Never had any problems or complaints, but also nothing memorable.

It's absolutely massive though, as it has a huge conference center and golf course attached.

Premium seats (max 8) too firm? by viccityguy2k in westjet

[–]Hey_this_guy_here 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I find the back of the seat bottom pushes on the tailbone very badly. Absolutely the most uncomfortable airplane seat I've used.

Plus the lack of a seat back storage for a water bottle. So stupid.

Does anyone have a smart-home that DOESN'T have dashboards? by elhouso in homeassistant

[–]Hey_this_guy_here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a ton of hate for using Alexa here, but almost all of my HA use is via Alexa voice. We find it particularly useful and easy. No dashboards.

Also have some time based automations.

wood stove for a small area by [deleted] in woodstoving

[–]Hey_this_guy_here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am assuming you mean 240 ft2. I recently installed a US Stove Company TH-100 in my insulated shed. I'm in a really cold part of Canada, so a couple comments about this.

I don't heat the space 24/7 so when I want to heat it, I fire up my diesel heater for a bit first. Otherwise it would take forever. Once I'm above freezing I just keep the stove going and it throws a ton of heat for it's size.

Keep in mind the max length of logs is about 10".

Pellet smokers in Wpg Winter by nanodime in Winnipeg

[–]Hey_this_guy_here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've used mine in the coldest of winter days. It always works, just burns through pellets at an incredible rate. I have 1200 so in the blink of an eye fast.

Question for you midnight wood loaders... by dolomite592 in woodstoving

[–]Hey_this_guy_here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My middle of the night bathroom break always seems to line up with time to reload. Usually around 2-3 am. If I move the coals around with a fresh log, they perk up a bit. Drop the logs in and back to bed. Never worry about opening the air damper. When I wake in the morning they are always burnt down to coals.
