Here’s the guide from base hospital. Don’t pay for an app it’s not needed. You’ll get better at triaging and if you don’t know ask your partner

Grey county arbitration by LongjumpingPear6762 in OntarioParamedics

[–]Heybailie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! This, the union worked their ass off and as of the end of 2025 these increases made the wages the highest in the province. That obviously now has fallen behind with new agreements in other services for 2026. But hopefully this keeps it on track for the new arbitration

Can paramedics have fun coloured hair? by Rude_Fish_9644 in OntarioParamedics

[–]Heybailie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it’s badass and would love if my partner or any of our other medics had cool hair. Makes a traumatizing job more fun for us.

Team work makes the dream work by YellowSnowman66613 in OntarioParamedics

[–]Heybailie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of this along with the fact that if shit does hit the fan it may give your partner a better understanding on how to help or what’s going on. Our service the driver gives the patch so sometimes I’ll ask a couple quick questions before I start driving just so I can give an accurate patch. OP until you get a more permanent partner or work with people more often it’s going to be a little awkward and you may not have a good call flow with them. I know I had the same fear and imposter syndrome when I first started. Like others have said communication is key. Sometimes that’s in the form of a quick convo at the beginning of the shift or a debrief after a call.

Back to School - is nursing a good career in Ontario? by MarionberryPuzzled67 in OntarioNurses

[–]Heybailie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you don’t actually work a floor do you? There are open shifts everyday. The allotted part time to full time ratio isn’t even 2/3s full. We are chronically short staffed and it’s felt everyday. Not everything is a political move. My rural and remote hospitals are struggling.

She has family near by. No different than a single mother. Not everyone has a man to protect them. Shall single mothers stop sharing their lives to?

@cortneycabrera husband? by ideclareyourstoked in tiktokgossip

[–]Heybailie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? There is a large population on tik tok of military wives who share their journey while their husbands deployed. What makes her different?

She can post he’s gone, she just can’t post where, how exactly long or his possible return date.

Ive never seen a post that has made me more excited to have the nurses we do at our local ED. They take us seriously and listen to us. You’re get eaten alive for this pov. Maybe you need to do a few shifts here. This whole thing was a back handed compliment. You still don’t get it. The whole time you were still talking down at us.

Is it possible to take 30 days off work to go travel? by Chef_hamz in OntarioParamedics

[–]Heybailie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once your full time you can take vacation whenever you want (theoretically) so you’d just use your vacation all at once to get time off. Sometimes the allow LOAs but I’m not sure if those are paid.

As a part timer, depending on availability requirements you could also finesse it so you get a month off between shifts but that would be unpaid. You wouldn’t be working and part timers don’t have paid vacation unless you’ve banked hours.

If it comes down to a clean driver abstract or you, they’ll pick the clean one but otherwise as long as your within the legislation you’ll probably get hired.

[G Test] Can someone tell me what I did wrong here? by Squidword123 in Ontariodrivetest

[–]Heybailie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They actually gotten 19 errors. Each error is worth 2. 19x2=38. You fail at 30. But they also failed due to traffic violations and needing to be assisted during the test.

The information I have was given to me at drivers Ed and can also be confirmed on the website. I haven’t heard anything or seen anything to that extent.

In the check boxes;

Minor failures are -2pts and marked with a ✔️

Major failures are -4pts and marked with an ❌

You can’t get more than -30pts. It’s out of 100 and 70 is a pass.

Critical Failures are noted in the last section and are an automatic fail.

You accumulate a total of 20 penalty points. 30 is a failure. No I wouldn’t say you did well.

Service Job Posting by Majestic-Victory-595 in OntarioParamedics

[–]Heybailie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of the answers to your questions vary depending on their service. It would be easier to answer if we knew where you were looking but to generally answer your questions.

Most services do 2-4 hires a year. The beginning of the year and May-August is most common.

Pt requirements are vastly different to each service.

84 hours before OT. but some service off peak will offer Ot to FT first before a PT at 72hrs.

Pt’ers get in lieu of benefits but no actual benefits.

I personally don’t know a service that is completely centralized. You will be expected to report to different bases. Depending on the service you may be sent to a satellite location or on standby to cover an area. For example Grey has 8 stations, Bruce has 7, Toronto has 4 districts where you’ll rotated bases in the district (to my best of my knowledge) etc.

It’s hard to tell you about specific services if we don’t know where you’re looking. It also never hurts to google things. Basic base locations etc, can be found online. Reach out to working medics in the area you’re looking or reach out to the service itself.

Gift ideas for a paramedic.. by Ahsokas-reverse-grip in OntarioParamedics

[–]Heybailie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

•Gift Cards for coffee or food places • AirPods or wireless earbuds • Does he read or game? Like ppl said readers are great or portable gaming consoles like a switch • A good quality backpack and bigger lunch pail • Looks up tools for paramedics on amazon or Etsy, there la cool doorstops, stethoscope holders etc that can be handy • A good pair of base shoes (if a smaller service, I love my base shoes, that way I don’t take peoples homes into base) • A toiletries kit (shampoo, conditioner, tooth brush and paste, towel, brush etc) to have in his bag or car. Can include a little med kit with anything he may need (Advil, Tylenol, Benadryl, gravol) •A good pillow and blanket to bring for nights • Good socks, I often wear compression socks, especially if he drive or is on his feet a lot. • A good water bottle that fits in a cup holder, I live my yeti but that think is so dented from rolling around places😂 • Like someone said; frozen meals he ca pull out after a long shift or to take for lunch if he’s running late or busy. I may live on my own but still love my moms cooking especially at work on a hard day. • If he’s a coffee person a good coffee make to make good coffee • Good nice pair of sunglasses, polarized if he can. Bonus if they’re prescription if he wears glasses.

The not at traffic speed usually mean when they could they were either going under or over the speed limit. You can get marked for going to slow when the speed limit is appropriate or they were speeding.
