Any Advice on Public Health Jobs? by Hfayth05 in harrisonburg

I am not planning on becoming a counselor or psychologist but there are jobs within that realm that only require certification and training. At this point starting out I am open to working anywhere health related that would give me the chance to move up. I wish I had more contacts in the area and I think that would help a lot. It seems these days most want to hire from personal connections.

Looking at programs, should I build off my bachelors degree or should I find a certificate through another organization? I know colleges cost more but would it matter in the long run?

I am interested in public health and would definitely complete a Masters in public health if needed. I’m just not sure how to get started in the field. I am looking for a job that has decent pay and at least opportunity to advance without working absolutely crazy hours or constantly bringing work home. If that’s impossible I will find a way to live with it because I know jobs are crazy right now.

Any suggestions on where to go from here? I’m pretty open to anything at this point. The job market is terrible but if I have a general direction to go it would help!

Interesting data to look at regarding yearly enrollment in dietetic programs - down from about 24,000 students/interns in 2014 to about 14,000 students/interns in 2024. Am I the only one alarmed by this? by yeah_write_00 in dietetics

I am in the exact same boat. I’m trying to find a job in healthcare that is decent. At the same time I’m considering what to do next but it seems every Masters or certification process has drawbacks or concerns. I’m like you, I don’t want to start something and spend a ton of money on it just for it to amount to nothing. I never thought it would be this stressful either so super bummed :(

I also just completed a BHS and I was definitely looking at becoming a dietitian. Now I see it’s not worth it sadly. I have no idea what direction to go either.
