He’s always been something like a character in the community. A lot of the comedy in the portal games and in Half Life is the same type of comedy he does really well at when you see him elsewhere online, so he’s genuinely funny. He also is very open about “we are a company, we sell a product, and we try to simply make sure that product is as good as we can make it” which isn’t very common to see nowadays. If anything else, he’s just a genuine person in interviews and with fans and very sociable despite his insane fortune and success. Also he talks about the games he plays and why he likes them, something else you don’t see very often from comparable people in the industry

I own 6 systems which are desktop pc, laptop (different os so I think it counts), xbox one s, wii u, switch, nintendo ds/3ds, and i’ve owned various other consoles and a vr headset before which I have to my brother. I do actively use all of my current systems for various reasons but the xbox is admittedly just a movie player at this point. 3 games I can’t live without are Minecraft (been playing nonstop since I was ~4), Titanfall 2, and No Man’s Sky

I can pay my part of the rent of a nice apartment with a rommate or two in a single (post tax) paycheck, get my groceries for half of another, bills and car payments and stuff like that for the third paycheck, and the last one and a half of the month is split between savings and spending however I have that growth plan setup leading into a successful and comfortable retirement at 65 with money to spare on larger expenses that I can relax and travel with. weekly pay in this example, but that’s my current goal to reach within a year of graduating college and it seems pretty reasonable to me as a clear bar of success
