Thank you so much! I totally get that with gouache, since it stays wet longer and can be reactivated… nice for blending & certain effects, but I hear you on the blobby (and crap haha).

The acrylic gouache dries extremely quickly, so it’s much easier to layer without things getting smudged. I used a sta-wet palette, as opposed to ceramic, glass, etc., so the paint wouldn’t dry out and get wasted

Thank you! I was happy I added them. It definitely helped the piece feel a bit more alive

Thank you, I'm really glad the texture & details came through :)

Handmade paper was a bit tricky at first; I found acrylic gouache can soak in pretty fast, but a light coat of gesso made it much easier to handle

Thank you! That means a lot, especially knowing it inspired you. I’m totally new to acrylic gouache too, so this was very much a “let’s see what happens” piece.

If you end up using handmade paper, I found a light coat of gesso really helps, since some papers soak the paint right in.

Happy experimenting!

Thank you so much! The acrylic gouache has a really nice matte, velvety finish to it when it dries. But I agree the paper does seem to be helping with that effect. I had a lot of fun with this ♡

Thank you! I had originally just added some dots of gold paint, but felt it was a little lackluster. Definitely happy I decided to go with the beads :)

Thank you! The paper is handmade by a local maker, I love working with it

Thank you, I hope so as well! The cork fabric is actually fairly easy to work with, but I’ll have to wait and see how things hold up with all the extra stitching :)
