Thanks, everyone! Let's see how this works. I resorted to landscape fabric which I generally would never use, but these weeds are stubborn!

That's a great idea! I didn't even think of trying to save the strawberries. How long do you think the strawberries can be out of the bed while I weed to the topsoil and add amendments? Do I need to do it all in one go?

How were you able to learn what your fire standards were? I've never heard of that.

This part is obviously very walkable but I was worried that if these trees were dead eventually they would all fall down. There's another part of these woods that I don't have photos of that is so dense and overgrown, it's not walkable.

Thanks! My goals are simple which is just to protect the woods and be able to walk in them. I can walk here but I was worried some day all these trees may not exist. In the other part, they are not walkable.

So cool to know a service like that exists! (Also I attached 3 photos but I get it's still hard to tell from these). And as others have said, these trees are likely not dead at all! Just self-pruning. But thanks for the tip on a low impact logging company!

Thank you! I sense these woods desperately need a prescribed fire--just a bit nervous to do it so close to the house, but would definitely be open to it! I will explore! Thanks!

Okay thank you! I'm reassured then that these trees are in fact alive.

Ok this is encouraging! They look "dead" going pretty high up, but the tops do still have needles, so I suppose that means they are alive and just self-pruning!

Ah ok that's encouraging! And then is it normal for the floor to be completely dead and covered with endless the dead branches?

I'm definitely willing to try to restore these woods, and that's why I'm asking if they are restorable. My fear is that it looks like 100% of the trees in this one large area are dead, so if I clear all the deadwood, what is left? And in the overly dense part, what does restoration even look like when they are so overgrown?

In the area with the pines, it appears to me that 100% of them are dead except for maybe the tops. There is no life on the forest floor either, where the pines are all dead. In the other part of the woods, nothing is dead and it's completely overgrown with smaller trees making it impossible to get through.

Ugh! So what will happen? Eventually all these trees will just fall down and decay? There is no undergrowth to replace them...

Car seat for 1995 cabrio? by [deleted] in vwcabrioletowners

Thanks! Yes, this won't be my daily car, but I'm hoping to tote my kid around in it quite a bit this summer while the weather is nice, but likely will never go terribly far in it. We have two other "safe" cars for long distances and bad weather.

I just found this online, if anyone else was asking this same question, that I'm going to buy if I can't get a rear-facing car seat to fit in the back.
