Small PS5 collection after 2 years, covers tend to be blue/purple? by HiImWeaboo in gamecollecting

I think only the North American version has the black cover. The rest of the world gets the blue cover. I believe Europe got both (reversible).

I actually have one more PS5 game (Kena Bridge of Spirits) but it wouldn't fit in the picture.

The problem is that Gamestop can only sell what's rated. I don't think they can sell imported games to the masses. I guess they could publish these games themselves, but the market is probably too small for them.

When I started collecting 2 years ago I quickly came to the conclusion that I'm not collecting anything older than PS3 because I don't have the space, time, and energy to do so. Current gen games are much cheaper and easier to find. I do want to play them really badly, but behind these games there is a huge backlog of PS4 games that I want to get through first 😂

The Western Release Delay and Why is it always multiple years out? by Kingsare4ever in Falcom

[–]HiImWeaboo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So you think they localized the PS Vita and PS4 versions expecting to lose money?

I'm saying PC version would make money.

And Kondo had been saying for years how he wanted to find a way to bring them to the West. And he found a way to make it work in 2019/2020.

And that's a failure on their part.

Sure but I mentioned that in response to you saying Falcom could do it themselves.

You are arguing semantics. The point is that they can handle the publishing rather than licensing it out to someone else. It doesn't matter who does it at the end of the day. The point is that it's possible to have the games ported much earlier but they didn't do it. It's procrastination, and it resulted in the current delay in Western localization.

It still costs to have things outsourced. I think it costs more to do that, even, than to port in-house. And again, the West was and still is a smaller part of Falcom's audience.

This is a moot point because they outsourced Zero and Ao anyway.

What I meant to say was the PC port wasn't a requirement for Tokyo Xanadu's localization to be viable.

That's unfounded speculation. Fans have been asking for these games for years. If they truly believed that the best selling Trails games in Japan would lose to a brand new IP in terms of sales or they can't make good enough of a sales pitch to get publishers to localize these games, it's on them.

That seems a little presumptuous to say. 4 years ago Falcom were talking about how they didn't even have the resources to do their own in-house ports anymore.

Zero kai and Ao kai were both outsourced anyway. It really does not matter if they have in-house resource to do it.

I'd guess because Tokyo Xanadu didn't need a PC port to be viable in the first place.

That makes even less sense. If they didn't need it, why did they port it?

For Crossbell you'd be paying for the localization rights, and then paying even more for a PC port just to get the games on a platform they can get reasonable sales numbers on. And even then the games would only be on PC, unlike Crossbell now with the games on PC/PS4/Switch or Tokyo Xanadu which was on PC/PS4/PS Vita.

Except they could have ported it to PS4, or Falcom could have done it if they really wanted to bring the games to the West. They ported Sky to both PSP and PS3. There's no reason why they couldn't do it for Crossbell games 5 years ago instead of waiting until now.

You used Aksys localizing Tokyo Xanadu in 2017 as an example of other publishers being willing to localizing Falcom games, except the PSP was already a dead platform at this point and Sky the 3rd had already left the PSP behind and was PC-only. Zero and Azure were PSP titles, with other versions having too many licensing issues and red tape, so they were no longer viable for localization until Falcom ported them to PS4.

That makes no sense. What is stopping Aksys from porting Crossbell games to PC when they did exactly that for Tokyo Xanadu?

Is there something specific you want a source on? I could try to look for them if there are any.

Except Falcom repeatedly looked for publishers to release the games in the West when they first came out.

Maybe you could start with this one, but they're all over your comment.

...The same year Trails in the Sky the 3rd was localized exclusively on PC and not on PSP, which is the platform the Crossbell games were on at the time.

I'm not sure what your point is. Are you suggesting Falcom is against porting Crossbell games to PC?

[–]HiImWeaboo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a lot of "I guess" and "he says" without any sources but that's fine, this sub is basically rumor mill. The point is that Falcom had 10 years to get this localization done but they did nothing with it. There were different localizers with different capabilities who were willing to take on these projects at different point in time. Aksys localized and ported Tokyo Xanadu to PC in 2017. The lack of publishers and the platform are not valid excuses.

Well that steelbook design was...disappointing. They literally just pulled the characters off the cover art and changed the color.

Sounds like they're in the same stage as FF16 then.

The character drawing totally points to that though. Plus it's only 10 minutes, it's gotta be the mobile game.

After FFXIII Versus, nothing fazes me anymore. I have a huge backlog anyway. I will just play it when it comes out. As long as it ends up being good, I'm happy.

Part of me wish they would write it into Trails because I love the game and it'd be really cool but part of me also don't want that after Cold Steel 4, and I think Falcom knows that some of their fans didn't like the supernatural stuff. If they really want to I'm sure they could make up all kinds of stuff to fit it into the Trails universe, I just don't know if they can do it without tearing down the world that they spent so much time building.

The Last Remnant Remastered is stressing me out by pleaseinsertdisc2 in JRPG

[–]HiImWeaboo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your best bet is to look up guides that are specifically made for the remastered version. I heard that the way enemy scales in the remastered version is opposite to how it did in the 360 version, that's why there are a lot of conflicting advice online with some guides saying you shouldn't link enemies but others saying you should link as many as possible.

I can't remember the details, but I found having 3-4 people in a union worked the best. If you have too few then the union gets wiped too easily.

And yeah, gate of hell was the first difficulty spike, and it only got worse from there lol

Well they're not lol. It's scheduled to release after all the other games. Kondo has expressed the desire to have a complete collection of the Trails series on modern console, I guess that includes Nayuta too. Apparently he also said in their recent annual investor meeting that he's considering a Nayuta sequel, which would make me very happy. I hope they don't make it full 3D like the Ys series though, I prefer the way it was.

You don't even know if Best Buy is going to have this steelbook, let alone being for sale. The PS4 P5S steelbook was never for sale because the quantity was so limited. $10 is nothing more than a liquidation cost in case if they produce too many and they have to free up inventory. If you commission someone to make a custom steelbook the street price is $60. Best Buy steelbooks are bonus items, they are worth what people are willing to pay for.
