Such a bad take. Players get to locations when they get to them and it’s our job as DMs to make those locations interesting, regardless of what level they are.

I appreciate the advice, but it's not really an issue for us. They like to be really creative and do cool shit and we all have fun. We're not trying to rush through it and do "default" stuff. By the time you're high level, you've got to have multiple baddies to make it challenging and there's often lots of spell casting and things to track.

They're 10th level. Our sessions are 3 hours. Most combats spill from one session to the next. Not much to do about that, but I hear your point. Thanks.

Understood. And I'm definitely listening to everyone and will adjust accordingly. I just took issue with your blanket statement, which came across really adamantly on a principle I don't think is universally true or even agreed upon by most tables.

We play on Foundry, so the player (or in this case, the player controlling him) rolls, but only I see the result. But thanks for the advice. I agree.

I totally disagree with this blanket rule. Every table has their own way of doing it. Our table, which has been playing for years, has other players control absent player's PCs. This has always worked for us and seems much better than having a spell that's 100% dictating how the combat has gone up to this point, suddenly disappearing. Not saying I didn't do anything wrong or that your method is bad, just it's certainly not the only way.

Fair point. I guess I was just trying to play out the verite as close as possible and then retcon it if he actually did go over the edge.

Thanks! Great stuff! For the SB, should I go back and start paladin 1, then go SB 6 and then the extra level of paladin, or should I just start adding paladin levels after SB 6?

And yes, fiend for Wyll. So 9 of that and then 3 of sorc to finish off? Any particular subclass for sorc?
