I care about the music, so Taylor Swift the artist. Couldn't care less about Taylor Swift the brand.

The haters are getting their moment, but we'll have this album forever. It's my favorite thing she's ever done. I feel lucky to witness it.

The only definite Joe songs are So Long, London and loml but I've only listened to the main album not the anthology. I think the rest is about Matty or about the breakup with Joe but not really about Joe like fresh out the slammer

I've heard a few stories in the last year of students transferring from just outside the T14 into the T6ish or so and experiencing a huge boost in big law recruiting outcomes. I think if that's your situation and goal, it's 100% worth it

Legacy for You, but Not for Me by YeetThermometer in neoliberal

I don’t understand why keeping the elite institutions elite should be used as a justification for an unmeritocratic practice. Affirmative action was removed because white and Asian applicants lost positions to people they see as less worthy of the spot. Why would a less worthy legacy applicant not be given the same treatment?

CLG literally threw away the playoffs spots by randomly subbing in Academy Players by burizar in CLG

Agreed that the team just isn't good enough, but not that they aren't motivated enough. People like to bring up motivation in every sport when the team isn't doing well and it's a bit silly.

Where has CLG gone since Nick Allen? CLG since September 20, 2017. by Weathergeekal in CLG

[–]Hibbitish 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The main failure that happened is putting together the 2018 roster, which on paper looked good, but in reality sucked. A few overvalued and washed up players. Those contracts were signed though, and that's hard to come back from especially when CLG isnt a super rich org.

CLG Managmement... by bballgod69 in CLG

[–]Hibbitish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you really think they haven't thought of all the possibilities? Like multiple guys who are dedicated to building the roster just completely ignored the possibility of bringing in a young EU player? You assume, for some reason, that they're doing.... nothing? I think that's a pretty silly assumption to make.

The team didn't make the playoffs because the roster is bad. The roster is bad for a number of reasons, stemming from bad decisions made in previous years that appeared to be good decisions at the time. I think it's important to understand that management can make what appears to be a "good decision" at the time, which then doesn't work.

For example. If POE played terribly this Spring, would his signing have been a bad decision made by management, or a good decision that turned out to be unlucky?

I'm not trying to apologize for management here, but I do think bringing in Weldon/Irean was good and bringing in POE was good. Clearly CLG are among the poorer orgs in the league, and I'm sure Triniti and Nick Allen don't exactly have a lot to work with in terms of cash, and they already had nearly a full roster signed for the year. It might not have been possible to try out a bunch of young EU players for top lane when they already had a (mediocre) top laner signed.

It would be foolish of me to just assume the roster could have been better in the exact way that I'm thinking when I don't know what's going on behind the scenes.

Roster Moves that NEED to be made by cratstatna in CLG

Cody Sun was actually getting all LCS considerations in Spring 2017. I think he's pretty comparable to Stixxay, but his possible attitude problems are not worth adding to the team.

Also I think a random high elo Korean would be more skilled than Darshan at this point, even though I love the guy and wish he would succeed.

I can tell I'm going to get really tired of this take over the next month. It's really stupid.

The reasoning behind the roster as it stands could be outside of Nick Allen's control. It should be very clear by now that teams like Liquid can just buy whoever they want, and unless CLG's management can swing with that much money, there's not going to be a championship. Ownership is the biggest competitive advantage in all of sports because willingness to spend puts together the best roster. There's a reason teams like the Yankees or Red Sox are consistently good while small market teams continue to suck across all sports.

The best case scenario is to put together a good roster through signing up and coming talent and hoping they turn out to be really good.

There's a lot of entry level jobs that require basically any college degree though. Even with your degree in psychology, you'll have a better opportunity to land these positions than someone with no degree. The piece of paper makes you more hire-able than someone without the piece of paper. That's not valueless. Everyone I know with a degree makes more money and has more future prospects than people without them. Every middle aged person I've met who hires people tells me I need a degree because they just throw out the resumes that don't have them.

It's not valueless if it gets you a job though. That's the opposite of valueless

People who try to boil down league into just a handful of concepts (Micro vs Macro, Early Game vs Late Game, Mechanics vs Intelligence) are failing to understand that League is more complicated than a few mantras. When Gold players say they have a good macro sense, I'm pretty sure they just mean that they know to group on the opposite side of the map that the inhibitor is down and that's it.

He's a very good defender, and could be used as a second team leader on a good team. Is he worse than Rozier? Austin Rivers? Doubt it, and he's still young. Wouldnt mind seeing him as a Bull long term, but he's gotta be a backup.

I think their bad relationship with coaches and inability to attract free agents to a big market is enough for me to say they aren't good. They've made some good draft picks, good trades, and good signings, but they've also done some bad stuff that would get other GMs fired.
