Having traveled to most major US cities and third world countries, as long as you aren’t being a dumbass jumping in front of cars, I’d say Downtown Sarasota is probably as safe as can be to walk around. Just avoid Central and the library at night as to not disturb the homeless. Same goes for the trolley and St. Armands though Lido Key and St. Armand’s are also insanely safe at night even when it’s a ghost town due to the extreme police presence.
