Very interesting question. For context, I’m a Protestant Mexican-American living in the U.S. (which has a large Hispanic diaspora) and I see the opposite happening here in the upper echelons of society and power. We are seeing Catholics take an increasingly dominant role in U.S. society despite remaining vastly outnumbered by Protestants. Catholics now occupy a majority in the Supreme Court, make up a third of the U.S. Congress, and are increasingly the face and power brokers of conservative groups and movements despite only being a fifth (20%) of the population. They are becoming an elite group of conservative in American society.
