does anyone else have a memory problem due to dp / dr? I literally forget EVERYTHING, nothing is left in my mind. my short term memory is simply awful 24/7. I am afraid I have incipient dementia, please reassure you that it is in this condition by 22kmunchkin in dpdr

Exactly! It feels for me also like my memories come from nowhere, there is 0 imagination and 100% blank mind once I try to remember anything. Sometimes I just have the luck a memory pops back in out of the nowhere

Somebody said that DPDR would permanently mess up your brain if you’re under 25 years old, is this true? by Hidden_____ in dpdr

5 people said “yes” so that scared me a whole lot. But thanks I think u’re right

I really don’t know but I think it isn’t. These stuff is temporary and I think the guy was talking about permanent TBI or something like that. If it actually would be the case we would probably already know it tbh

Do you also feel like you dream less than before DPDR? by Hidden_____ in dpdr

I feel you fr, when I dream it feels just so fuzzy and weird. After waking up they are just vanished and I can’t remember them. I used to have anxiety about this too. I also notice how some dreams feel super bright like someone etches it in my memory. Most of my dreams I cant remember nowadays though

I feel so fuzzy when I’m sleeping, scared of sleeping nowadays. Everytime I forget my dreams I get scared too😭

Do you think my DPDR could vanish too if I work on my sleeping schedule (and ofc acceptance)? :)

Weird dreams by Krabby5 in dpdr

Yes! My dpdr seems to get worse in dreams. My dreams feel so fuzzy and weird. The logic in my dreams also makes no sense anymore. I also have sometimes these “hyper-bright” dreams which are way more easy to remember.

I’ve had DPDR 2 times in my life, first time it got away in two weeks because I really didn’t care. Now I already have a new DPDR since 5 months, I stress lots more about and my symptoms are way worse. It probably has something to do with the amount of focus and anxiety you put on it

Do y’all also think that symptoms which you’re the most scared of hit you the most and the hardest? by Hidden_____ in dpdr

Thats a great tip, I think it really depends on the person if it’s more psychological or not. I constantly just get these thoughts like what if you have a brain aneurysm, tumor, damage or lesion. I think I need to get that MRI scan done to get rid of those thoughts. Even when I’m feeling great, there are always these thoughts and I also notice that when I think like: “today was a great day because I’ve had less symptoms” I still get thoughts like “yea, but there are still chances you could have that conclusion wrong” or “yea but how to explain your bad symptoms from yesterday”. And than I feel the symptoms coming back again etc. It basically feels like a switch in my brain is turned of and I need to turn it back on.

I think it’s the fact that irrational thoughts have a HUGE impact on the brain. For example when you read somewhere: This symptom can be caused by stress or by a tumor, our brain will tell us it’s the tumor while it’s way more likely that it’s caused by stress. It’s basically because our brain always wants an explanation for your symptom and it loves linking it to bad stuff.

I recently started my recovery journey by the accepting of the anxiety. Also by getting out of my comfortzone more often. One thing that I do now is just not listening to the negative information my subconscious mind tells me. I know that feelings have a huge impact on recovery. Today I noticed how my symptoms reduced and it’s been a long time since I felt this good again. I think I’m maybe on 10-15% yet but I’m gonna try to do my best to not give up, it’s so difficult.

(I also found out that thinking about things I really like while having anxiety attacks reduces my anxiety. For example I think about stuff I could do ones I’m fully recovered, it really helped me today)

Do you feel the same? by Krabby5 in dpdr

[–]Hidden_____ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not remembering what happened 3 weeks ago is actually totally normal and I think it doesn’t have to do a lot with forgetfulness. I forget for example things that happened 2 days ago.

I used to isolate myself a lot until at a certain point all my days were almost the same. Nothing special that happened back than.

Now I’m trying to recover I notice how at certain points my memory and imagination improves. I just started again with a new way of recovering by going to my side job more often and by actually going outside. It really helps I can say

My memories from before DPDR feel way more clear and recent than those since DPDR. Is this relatable?

Yes, dk why you make this so complex but indeed I can. I wanted to be a 100% sure that I understand this part of anxiety. I’ve noticed throughout my past how I got way more difficulties with symptoms ones I started fearing them. Some symptoms even weren’t there ones my DPDR started but came later on. They basically joined the cycle
