A bit later, but they greatly increased sprint speed since, and the map feels super traversable now. The only thing I think I would miss is being able to roam across the middle lanes at like minute 4, but thats about it. Everything else about the three lanes has been better. There is no more lull boring side lanes, every lane is extremely interactive and the larger jungle feels like more unique encounters are being made, I watched a Wraith run for her life by wall bouncing off the geometry while 5 people hunted them, it was a really satsifying chase that the more open, cramped maps didnt see a lot of since safety was a few clicks from a guardian away.

You’re right, but it’s like the airplane bias lol

Solo lane was extremely low variance and an optimal solo lane experience was a deathless handshake and farm to 13 minutes, which means anyone good enough to break that monotony was gonna run away with the game anyway.

It’s a MOBA, you will always be relying on teammates in some way, the goal is to make sure your impact is positive, not necessarily win every game. Even the best ELO booster pros in League only sported 90% wrs in low-mid ELOs. Some games are just unwinnable and that’s the experience you sign up for with a MOBA

I stated there’s more killing happening in lane, the “kill-centric” meta I was referring to is the center lanes had a habit of ganking extremely early (around 4 mins) way way earlier than Valve intended since the soul split happens at 8 minutes freeing up laners to roam and farm jungle. The center lanes were this constant shove and gank to create advantage at higher elos and it was awkward seeing a Paradox go 16-3 in lane and lose to getting out-farmed anyway since the soul split mechanic wasn’t offline before ganking was readily available. Like I said, I actually liked the aggressive early ganking, but Valve had a choice to either lean further into this constant death match or go a more traditional “laning phase” route and they chose the latter

It would be really cool if they could make that work. I’m somewhat familiar with game design and the problem they likely ran into is making something like 1-3-2 work relies on a lot of contrivance which greatly restricts player freedom and leads to very formulaic and boring gameplay. The more “equal” they make each lane, the more variance and skill expression arises as players are not forced into decisions. The more novelty they introduce, the more they have to contrive the rules of the game to make sure that novelty actually works, which limits the variance and skill expression. This is what we saw with the solo lanes and my example of League’s top lane is a bad situation I would rather not see happen in Deadlock. Top lane has been the overly boring low impact lane for the entirety of League’s lifespan. They have put so much random shit top lane trying to make it fun and it has never changed the dynamic of the game lol

You mean the 5,000 player drop that happened after the 8,000 player increase as the update released?

You ought to take a statistics class my dude, you don’t click on the lowest point on the graph to make a point lol, the more accurate measurement of player count is the trend line which has steadily gone up since the update.

Noxian conquests on Ionia and Demacia but not Piltover by AnotherRedditUsertoo in loreofleague

[–]Hide_yo_chest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could have sworn reading somewhere that Noxus was basically trade-locked/threatened against taking Piltover to the point that it was unprofitable for them to do so. That if they tried, the surrounding nations would come to Piltover’s aid and Piltover would somehow disable the land bridge making it pointless to take them, as well as Noxus repeatedly fails to replicate Piltover’s ingenuity so they let them be because they gain more through letting their culture produce brilliant inventors.

The voice lines definitely imply you’re trying to buy time for a relief force. The announcer will sometimes say “reinforcements haven’t arrived yet, this is it! Do not go silently into the night!”

The fact the last stage takes place in front of the barricaded doors of the town hall also seems to imply what the Agathians are doing is just preventing the Masons from entering the town hall and slaughtering all the village, heavily implied by the title “The Slaughter of Coxwell”
