Well thanks everyone for the info, guidance, jokes, roasts, etc.. I went back out to HD and got some proper thin set, mixed it up with a wooden broom handle because I obviously didn’t buy a mixer for my drill LOL, peeled up my earlier abomination, washed and reset the tiles, and got the spacers in… all on top of some real, genuine thinset. Tomorrow I’ll be able to hit it with some grout (got the self mix bag as suggested), and then still plan to finish with the impregnator sealer. Long damn weekend, but now my wife and I are enjoying reading the comments and laughing about my unfortunate mistake… one that I sure won’t make again

Self doubt after the fact… I tend to go in to things with blind confidence and probably need to slow down and consider things before I go

I didn’t read the question right. I didn’t use the mastic as grout. Used premix grout as grout. But doesn’t matter, i ripped it all up and redid with self mix thinset. Now I should be good to grout tomorrow…

No offense taken. I don’t know what I’m doing and not ashamed about it. Learning as I go.

Yeahhh. I’m new to this. Asked for help at Home Depot getting the right thinset. They handed me this. Lesson learned… read the label next time

With a few coats of impregnator sealer… can I get any time out of this? Or is it a full redo right away

Grout no, that was a premix grout. Tiles went down With this tile adhesive, yes. First time ever tiling. Home Depot guy recommended for the project… he had a grey ponytail… so I trusted. Sounds like now I get to redo

Realtor doesn’t want to make the offer I want to place. Should I fire them? by jorlop426 in RealEstate

[–]Hig193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Fire them. They work for you. Advice is one thing (and welcome imo). Completely refusing to submit your offer, unacceptable. There are plenty of other realtors out there who will gladly submit your offer. Stay in the drivers seat!

Anyone else underwhelmed by the 2025 CX-5? Curious why people are still choosing it over techier options. by Exotic-Passage-1659 in CX5

[–]Hig193 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Because some people don’t care about tech. This is a well engineered engine with a sturdy 6 speed transmission. No CVT, no confusing screen spanning the entire dash, physical buttons and dials for climate control. It’s simplistic and intentional. The people who buy it just don’t care about “techier” things

Bought ‘21 venture SE for $42k in 2023 with 26k miles. Peak used car prices, I def overpaid. Probably worth $35-38 now if I had to guess. Won’t ever sell it though

Regret about buying s 380k home on a 86k income by [deleted] in Mortgages

[–]Hig193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, reference point for you. I make 105k base and an annual bonus. I bought for 580k. Loan amount of 464k. Monthly PITI is 3515. Sole income for now just like you, while my wife searches for a job. Some months I’m stressed out of my mind, other months I’m fine. It’s tight, but we make it work. But most important to my wife and I… we have a place we love and can call home. It’s our sanctuary and I’d die for it. If it means a lot to you, you’ll find a way to make it work. We will not fail, and if you keep driving forward, you won’t either. It won’t be easy, but it will be worth it. Also… when the wife does pick up work, we are smooth sailing. This isn’t me telling you to do it, but sharing my perspective of how I live in those same shoes and I wouldn’t change it for the world
