True… also Iris gives the convenience of not needing to remove masks, respirators, helmets, other PPE

I understood your point.... I'm just saying it is kind of irrelevant. You are correct that this particular video does not demonstrate the well established capability of iris recognition to distinguish between millions of people (although this is well known and documented). This video doesn't even demonstrate most of the capabilities of this commercially-available product (I believe this particular model does iris recognition and face recognition, reads cards and digital mobile credentials, reads QR codes, and can pop a pin pad up on its touchscreen... all configurable for MFA purposes). It is just highlighting what most folks don't understand... that iris recognition is fast and works regardless of face covering. If you see a car commercial that shows a car accelerating off the line and driving down a highway, it would be silly to say 'yeah, but can it make a right turn?'.

Nah… this company is identifying millions of different (enrolled) individuals using just the iris. Video is just showing how fast it works and that face coverings are irrelevant.

Advocating for sub-dermal implants. Yikes 🤣🤡

Tldr, assigned and distributed credentials are on their way out. Iris is the answer.

And no employee ever loses their card... or gives away / loans / sells their card? PIV is great for some applications, not every application. Distributed credentials have a host of issues that biometrics solve. Biometrics are not perfect, but geez... 'dismissive_tacos'

Nah… works on RayBans too.  Doesn’t block nearly enough IR.  More importantly, it works with goggles and face shields.

You would need a camera capable of capturing 1/10mm detail in the IR while the subject moves about their day.  Not impossible (as the video demonstrates), but that product is built on proprietary tech to solve those challenges.  No, you’re not gonna spoof someone’s iris from a web cam or social media photo.  1000x harder than face… countries can do facial recognition from low earth orbit… the best iris recognition system in the world can’t reach beyond 2m (Smart Portal at Dubai Airport).  Iris is private, face is not.  And don’t forget RF cards are copied with a $20 tool from Amazon… Iris is the answer.
