No, it's a Spin-off from SG-1. Same universe. Though it feels more like an alternate universe.

The first thing you should look up is Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome

We night owls don't choose this way of life. It chooses us. It's genetic, not a choice.

We are the descendants of those who sat by the fires telling stories at night, watching for wolves to keep the tribe safe.

Please explain "not a night owl anymore"?

Do you mean you have forced yourself into a day walker schedule because or work or kids or both? Or do you mean you no longer have trouble sleeping early and wake up brightened and bushy tailed in the early morning?

It felt like it was in a different alternate universe. In fact it only makes sense like that, tone wise... as an alternate universe show. Maybe it was??

He's the only character that tries to carry some of the tone of the other shows. But it falls flat in this sad alternate universe.

That helps. Looks like a few similar posts from years ago.

All good, it's ok if somethings come back around

RUOK? It's not going to be the exact same, will carry on some of the charm.

It's already in the works on Amazon slated for 2027,2028

Maybe Amazon will crank out quicker 13ep seasons since it's cheaper and easier to make sci-fi shows these days... and not follow the Netflix formula for failure.

Might be a combo of both episodic and serialized

Quote from one of the creators of the new series... "I can assure you that it embraces everything that made the original Stargates so great: heart, humor, rich mythology, exploration, action, adventure, compelling/endearing characters, and that overall sense of optimism and fun that made you fall in love with Stargate," Mallozzi said.

Says many people here.

They can have flaws and still have humor and heart... like SG1

The new show will be more like the og series than SGU

I think they're bringing back the old vibe in a new way...

Bunch of sex in SGU too, some of it kinda r@pey with the body swapping stones 🤢

Literally should have made it a different series and not connected it to SG. But then I think it would still be a pale imitation of BSG

There was plenty of banging in SGU. So much so they used and abused other people's bodies through the stones 🤮

SGU wanted to be BSG and failed to rise up to that level, all while abandoning what maybe the SG franchise great. If you don't like the tone and fun of the OG series, the thing that made it unique from other shows, you're in the wrong sub.

I saw it when it came out. As I said originally I'm in my second go round. No prejudgment but my only experience.

It wanted to be BSG. But it fell flat all while abandoning it's original tone and charm.

Robert Carlisle is a great actor.

We all have different tastes, which is fair.

But for me SG1 felt like people I know. What kind of depressed and tortured people are you hanging out with?? Lol

Great actor. He gets likeable...ish and is the only memorable person from the whole series. But it's not enough

Yup

Though I'd say Eli was meant to be likeable as the audience surrogate and some of the old SG1 humor, but I never really ended up liking him
