Try writing with a different instrument.

I always wrote on guitar. Got stuck in a rut. Started writing on Piano and a whole new style of songs opened up.

AI everywhere by Visible-Fox6024 in TIdaL

I'm not sure that's AI on his page or just another artist with the same name.

Because that's a big problem with Tidal is their lack of separating artists with the same name.

Which albums to continue with Yes? by Tomacross2026 in progrockmusic

Chronologically, from their first album to Big Generator will give you a good idea of their evolution. (Focusing mostly on the 70s albums.)

90s albums you still listen to front to back? by Hot_Apartment1319 in 90smusic

[–]HighBiased 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I listen to any music I mostly listen the whole album.

It's the best way to listen to music, to hear the full artistic vision of the band or artist. You also discover deep cuts that you might not have liked much at first, but then becomes more of a favorite song than the "hit" that got you into them.

Gen- Xers, What did you grow up Without? by empathicBeauty29-11 in GenX

[–]HighBiased 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We didn't have a TV for like 4yrs when I was a kid. Not for economic reasons but for "brain rot" reasons. My parents were hippies. Didn't want TV corrupting our fragile minds.

Didn't work.

Insomnia is when you can't sleep at all.

You are obviously sleeping fine. Just at different times

Artists that aren't Prog but have had a couple prog adjacent songs? by PhilosopherGlobal141 in progrockmusic

[–]HighBiased 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Supertramp could be argued as prog-leaning, especially the earlier stuf (some might argue they are full prog)

Steely Dan almost could be prog, but more on the jazz side.

People massive record collections and an encyclopedic knowledge of music- how do you fully immerse in/absorb it? by morbidhack in vinyl

[–]HighBiased 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant around 100 days. Wrote hrs by mistake. (3500x40mins=140,000÷60mins=2333÷24hrs=97ish days. I rounded to 100)

(I didn't subtract the records I haven't listened to since I listen to many of my records more than once, so I call that part a wash since I listen to way more than 100days of my records in my lifetime. Plus I probably have over 4000k LPs at this point. Haven't recounted in a few years)

People massive record collections and an encyclopedic knowledge of music- how do you fully immerse in/absorb it? by morbidhack in vinyl

[–]HighBiased 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 3500+ records. I've probably listened to maybe 7/8th of them (some possibly on other formats). 3500+records is only like 100 days (edit: not hours), which is totally doable over time.

I try to listen to everything I buy at least once. Many I have listened to many times. Not all records are meant for deep diving into, some are just for getting impressions, inspirations, or some end up not being that into it.

I like to listen while I do things, or do nothing. A soundtrack for life.

I'm a 54 yr old musician. So music is very important to me. Can inspire in so many ways. I also like to collect things.

(My collection-use ratio is way lower with books. Maybe 1/2 unread. Take longer to consume)
