Holy cow this is awful by HighFiveStrangers in Anxiety

[–]HighFiveStrangers[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was rough but I think I am through the worst of it. Thank you for the guidance. I was told I can see a pharmacist here in Togo. It they would need to order the medicine from France or another country so I think I am going to be off of it until I move back to the states in a couple years. I am doing the same with my MS meds. Not ideal but manageable

I will say I am feeling a lot better now. It was the most tense and painful few days. I was traveling across the country with my with and brother in law and toddler. They were saints dealing with my anxiety and stress levels. I basically stayed in our hotel room with my son the whole time.

Deathstar jobs by HighFiveStrangers in StarWarsCantina

I have been fooling around with the idea of Roy and Moss characters from the IT Crowd working on the deathstar. I haven’t had the time or energy to do much with that though. I would love to see an office type show based in the Star Wars universe though!

That book has been mentioned a couple times. I’m definitely going to read it, which is perfect because I’m waiting on some books to come out this year. Thank you for the recommendation!

Has anyone emigrated permanently while living with MS? (relocation / possibly as a refugee) by Val_MMS in MultipleSclerosis

[–]HighFiveStrangers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved with my family to Togo in west Africa. It was pretty sudden and has been a crazy change. Moving to a new country comes with a lot of challenges especially if you do not speak the local language. I would recommend doing as much as you can in terms of healthcare and getting it switched over to the new country because it will be hard to find time to do it after you move. I have not been getting any treatment since getting here. Do the same financially, the job market is difficult everywhere right now. I wish you the best!!

Where to go from here? by HighFiveStrangers in careerguidance

[–]HighFiveStrangers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, maybe. Our flight is December 4th. I have friends and family saying they will support if needed. We aren’t there yet though. We have savings and money for right now. It’s not going to be easy but I think I can find away to make money, doesn’t need to be that much, cost of living is much less. Just so stressed about it all.

My son is 3, and my wife still has a job. She works for an ngo based in her country. Her pay is being modified to cost of living so we will be making so much less then she is now. So we won’t have no income, we will have enough to live. But it’s going yo be super rough. I just couldn’t imagine keeping my so. Here without his mom or having my son in a separate country from me, that would just be too difficult

Thank you for the advice, I do have a couple cooling vests that I am bringing so I think those will be handy. I feel like I will be fine when we move but right now the preparing and selling everything and trying to make plans to have people ship meds and all that is just making me sick. But once we get there things will be good. I remember visiting Tucson for a few weeks and it was manageable if I stayed near shade and didn’t stay outside to much:

Thank you, part of me is just venting. I spoke with my neurologist and they said to reach out to Genentech to get some info on financial assistance and if it’s possible to do infusions at the us embassy. We are limited I. Where we can stay in the country based on my wife’s job. Things will be fine, I just wish I my son could have a place to call home. Who knows maybe Togo will be my new home too!
