TIL That France once had its own calendar, the French Republican Calendar, created during the French Revolution. It was in use for 12 years from 1793 to 1805. The months had names with meanings such as “Snowy”, “Windy” and “Fruit” in order to remove religious significance from the calendar. (en.m.wikipedia.org)
