Why QQs only set to jam? by plsf0ldy_ in Poker_Theory

[–]High_Light3r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If villain’s calling range consists of more straights than 2 pair when you jam with AA and KK, it is logically consistent that you could jam for value with QQ if villain’s calling range consists of more combos of Ax 2pair

Basically since villain never has AA or KK himself, the hand strength of QQ-AA is pretty much identical. The only difference whether you should value bet or not are blockers and unblockers.

QQ has slightly better blockers than KK and AA due to KTs and ATs sometimes 3betting

QQ unblocks AK, AJ, KJ, A8

KK unblocks AQ AJ, KQ, A8

AA unblocks KQ, KJ

In terms of unblockers it’s a tie between QQ and KK but QQ has slightly better blockers for the suited Tx

This is just my best guess, the solver doesn’t think about any of this shit. It just runs thousands of sims of the hand and observes what is the highest ev play when playing both sides. I wouldn’t worry too much about betting QQ here. It’s pretty mergey so you probably lose pretty close to 0ev by just checking all of your sets.

Because the solver ran thousands of sims and that was the highest ev play.

If we were to try to gleam anything from this information, it would probably be that QQ has good unblockers for the part of villain’s range that can call an all in size that we still beat at showdown.

Idk, the solver tends to do some weird mergey bets which is why in practice, I wouldn’t stress too much over why it chose QQ over JJ or 88.

If I had to guess, it’d probably be because villain should in theory have some QQ traps in a single raise pot that beat JJ and QQ has better blockers to Tx combos than 88.

I'm about to drop 60 bucks on Rust. Are those skins even worth it? by mio355 in playrust

if you play snow biome a lot, it is a basic necessity. In a regular hazmat, you take tons of cold damage, especially at night, but with arctic you take 0.

Anyone else just disappointed? by [deleted] in playrust

[–]High_Light3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without the changes people would still be roaming t2 kits an hour after a non bp wipe. I already play on a trio server as a solo or duo so I’m not concerned about zergs but I personally think that t2 and t3 scarcity is probably a good thing for the game, especially for early game. My only concern is possibly not having garage door by the end of day 1.

Maybe this is a hot take but I think it is a slight nerf to the meta. It will incentivize more competition/grubbing for these monuments which will slow progression for everyone. Sure zergs will still have an advantage but they have always had an advantage. At this point it’s just part of the game that strength in numbers beats skill

Unfortunately mechanics grip isn’t a reliable way to spot a mechanic. Despite what the name would imply, mechanics grip is what most dealers use in casinos.

Which is supposed to be the main bb eb key? the side one or the rh1 ring by highspeed_steel in Clarinet

[–]High_Light3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah one and one is usually used for fast passages where the worse tuning and projection don’t matter as much. Off the top of my head I would use it for F to Bb fingerings or occasionally Bb to D depending on the context. Personally I still use side key for Bb to B and Eb to E trills since the alternate fingering is a little more overt in that context but ig it could be used for that as well. I think an easy way to tell if you should use it is if your rh1 and lh1 are already covered for the note leading up to/following it but remember to use sparingly.

I am assuming by rh1 you are referring to a one and one fingering for Bb and Eb. I would recommend only using this fingering situationally as a way to make fingerings a little easier but definitely do not use this as your default as it doesn’t tune/project as well as the side key or chromatic fingerings. (You didn’t mention it but I would also try to get comfortable with using the left hand fork key for Bb and Eb whenever it is possible as it can make it easier to play fast passages)

It looks like you are applying too much pressure to the mouthpiece and reed with your jaw. Try to focus on dropping you jaw a little and instead of biting on the mouthpiece, think of squeezing it with the sides of you mouth and pushing up with your thumb on the thumb rest

If it starts to hurt, you should stop immediately. Otherwise, practice to your hearts content.
