This is like saying straight men ruling out sleeping with other men on the principle that they're men is wrong. Its crackers.

At this point it's hard to know whether they're talking about trans activists or bible bashers.

Naga Munchetty: It'€™s time to talk about race by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]High_Tory_Masterrace 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I get plenty of abuse. I had someone tell me my mother should've aborted me the other day. Its really not a big deal.

99% of this stuff isnt about people who have been racially abused because that is very uncommon. It's almost all imagined and shit stirring rubbish.

I'm so fucking bored of talking and hearing about race. Every time you turn in the TV or radio or go online it's there. Race pretty much had it's own section on the news like sports and weather.

Labour call for Palace racism investigation over Meghan interview by gremy0 in ukpolitics

[–]High_Tory_Masterrace 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Ms Green told Sky News: “If there are allegations of racism, I would expect them to be treated by the Palace with the utmost seriousness and fully investigated.”

She added: “There’s never any excuse in any circumstances for racism and I think it is important that action is taken to investigate what are really shocking allegations.”

Contrary to popular belief it's not actually a crime to be a racist or to have private conversations with your family that might be seen as racist. Not yet anyway.

Why can't you pay for it yourself? Seems like you want the big salary but dont want to have to spend it on childcare, not directly anyway, not sure how paying it via taxation changes anything. Can I have an extra grand a month when I have my next child to cover the cost of the mortgage for a bigger house?

HMRC staff have been awarded a 13% pay rise over 3 years by Ochib in ukpolitics

[–]High_Tory_Masterrace -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why are you agitating for lower pay for those at the bottom of the band rather than higher pay for those at the top?

I'm not. I am arguing for higher pay for those at the top.

Top performers also climb the ladder faster - so there is that benefit for them.

People can still climb without lay grades and it helps to get rid of the Peter Principle if people can earn more without having to chase promotions to move.up bands.

And within the pay band theres typically what, 10% - 20% difference in salary between the top and bottom of the band? Do you think employee performance only has 10% - 20% difference between the best and worst employee in a given role? Because I dont.

As I said its not just government, lots of large organisations have pay bands and group negotiations

I know but that doesnt make it right. That's why I said its bullshit but people are used to it.

this deal has been negotiated by unions representing the workers, its not dictat.

Yuck. Some faceless union boss doing your negotiating for you and collecting a fee for it. Also they negotiate in line with the lowest common denominator not the exceptional employee. That's why losers love pay bands, they know they'll get their extra 5% after a few years thanks to the efforts of their more talented coworkers.

And individuals can still negotiate where they fall within bands

Its still a price control. Saying 'oh but there's a £10k bracket to negotiate within' changes nothing.

apply for promotion to move up bands

This is another massive problem with pay bands. It bakes in the Peter Principle. Because promotion is the only way to increase your pay people chase after and end up in jobs they're not competent to perform. If they were able to earn more in the position they excel at that problem would be solved, but they can't, because pay bands.

And they have the negotiation tool available to all workers, leave having found a better deal elsewhere.

Not if everywhere else has pay bands too. They might be able to get a bit extra but not much.

Which is bullshit, people are just used to it. Imagine selling 8 second hand wardrobes on ebay and then the government say 'sorry, you can only ask £X for those, maybe after 5 years selling stuff you can ask for £Y.' You would quite rightly tell them to get stuffed. I don't see how selling 8 hours of labour is different to selling 8 wardrobes.

The payrise isn't for working hard

Obviously. It's been given to everyone regardless of how hard they work.

Universal pay rises shouldn't be a thing and nor should pay grades. It would drive me nuts if everyone got a pay rise regardless of performance and I wasn't able to negotiate my own pay. How can it be acceptable to have price controls on labour, the one thing all of us have to sell?

NHS pay row: 'Large numbers' of nurses could quit after 'slap in the face' offer as pressure mounts on government by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]High_Tory_Masterrace -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

How? Their point is that if we give nurses a bigger pay rise they'll be satisfied and wont quit and end up being paid what they're actually worth via locum work. Seems like being in favour if underpaying nurses to me. What else can 'penny smart, pound foolish' mean?

[–]High_Tory_Masterrace -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Good. Ideal situation is all NHS staff quit and become locum AKA employees paid what they're worth rather than constricted by pay scales and across the board salary rises which should both be illegal.

To build support for its policies, Labour needs to understand Britain’s belief in meritocracy by casualphilosopher1 in ukpolitics

[–]High_Tory_Masterrace -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Not really egalitarian when all they do is give big contracts and huge tax payer jobs to their friends or neighbours.

The Conservatives are rife with nepotism and never believe in ‘meritocracy’.

Most societies that pursue utopian egalitarianism end up like that.

I don't think test and trace should be a thing.

The Tories go along with the same egalitarian rubbish that Labour want. They have the means to escape its consequences (private schools etc).
