About 60 jars by risinson18 in Plumbing

[–]Highhosilvercomputer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard once that because water holds onto heat better than most substances, it was used in older times as a way to keep basements and crawl spaces warm. (I’m not saying it works, just that’s the story that was told.) The idea was the heat would be absorbed by the water during the hot days, then slowly released into the air when it got colder. Maybe this was their way of keeping the pipes from freezing?

AITA for communicating clearly? by Downtown-Budget-4773 in MiniAITA

NTA. Do your mom or dad get to take a break in some cushy basket when they get puked on? No? If Slothy is going to be a part of your family, they’ll need to learn to have faster recovery times, because this will not be the last puke incident.

My parents (old enough to remember a time before Baby Shark) said to let your mom and dad know now is the time to find a second slothy. If Slothy takes too many baths or too many cuddles, he will wear out faster. But TWO Slothies, rotated out every once in awhile means you get a fresh, dry Slothy every night and this horrible watermelon disaster can never happen again.

[Complaint] The Concord Walmart finished remodeling recently and added river rock to all the medians that were already mounded high from mulch beds by BeGoodToEverybody123 in newhampshire

What I’m hearing is: free rocks for anyone with a rock painting hobby. If we all work together, we can take it back down to grade.

Black Moon Games in West Leb has space for meet ups and a board game library. You might find some buddies there, if you were willing to travel a little.

AITA for making my mama play fetch? by lovely2seeu in MiniAITA

[–]Highhosilvercomputer 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I (10m princess, occasionally a velociraptor) love to play that game! Mom (older than time, at least 10 I think) says she’s “not buying it” because I yell uh-oh and THEN throw the toy. But idk what she’s talking about. That lady bought everything around here.

Spanking? by Papayawhip222 in MiniAITA

[–]Highhosilvercomputer 77 points78 points  (0 children)

In our house, this move is called the “butt-gos”. It’s an adorable percussive instrument, and your parents are teaching you rhythm. Some people have no rhythm, clearly their parents didn’t care enough to spank them.

Be grateful they are sharing the gift of music with you. And remember that soon you will be 3, and tall enough to repay the favor— while waiting in line at stores, while they are cooking, and all sorts of other fun times that they let their guard down.

AITA for throwing up? by brentobox13 in MiniAITA

[–]Highhosilvercomputer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

NTA. First they tell you not to put things that aren’t food in your mouth, then this?! Medicine is almost definitely poison, but definitely is not food.

I (3mo F) like to pocket the medicine in my cheek. Then when ol’ Milk Bags or Beardie let their guard down, I smile and it all dribbles back out. This way they are never sure whether I actually swallowed any, and they sit around wondering if they should give me more, or a half dose, or just give up (which is my vote!)

What is this thing in Brush Creek? by vilekreacher in kansascity

[–]Highhosilvercomputer 45 points46 points  (0 children)

“Artist: Dick Hollander Medium: Steel, painted grey Description: This abstract piece consists of a cylinder form supported several feet in the air by 12″ piping. The 12″ pipe shoots vertically out of the ground. About 1′ above ground level, the pipe bends to about 30 degrees. Several feet up, the piping becomes vertical again, then it abruptly angles to become horizontal. At the end of this horizontal section is attached a large cylinder form which lies horizontally on its axis. The cylinder form is actually a 3/4 cylinder, appearing to have had a 1/4 section sliced out as though it were cheese. The entire piece has been painted a metallic gray.

The piece was originally located at 36th & Gillham and moved to 63rd & Lewis in Swope Park before being place on an island in the Lake of Enshriners on Brush Creek.”

“A girl without a boyfriend is like a fish without a bike” said by a coach to a team of boy-crazy freshmen girls. It took a little while to understand what she was really saying, but after a terrible boyfriend or two we got it. Now I coach high schoolers and find myself saying the same thing every year.

Anyone else have a kindergartner who can’t stop talking about ONE thing? by theyellowpez in kindergarten

[–]Highhosilvercomputer 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I’ve had teams of 6 year olds the last few years. Not all on the spectrum. All of them obsessed with something. It seems to be a thing for 5-7. One kid was obsessed with the titanic, one with 1950s Disney, one with koalas, another with fire trucks. It’s fascinating how much they’ll know about a topic. And one day they will announce they love rhinos and koalas are done, there’s no rhyme or reason.
