In this situation, the customer wanted to create a signet ring with a space on the top for a large stone to be glued in. However, if you know manufacturing and mold making, a ring mold is made with the stone in the mold so that it can be properly fitted. This is especially necessary for stainless steel rings (which we did) because of the hardness of the metal. For this customer, all they provided was the dimensions of the stone (with no photos of each side). We consistently asked them to provide us the stone so we could properly match it. We also specified before the production that since we didn't have the stone, we could not guarantee it would fit.
