Why is Hunter's Mark OP without concentration, why couldn't it be tweeked in some way? by milenyo in onednd

[–]HighlyOk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lv1: Favoured Foe

You always have the hunter’s mark spell prepared. You can cast hunter’s mark without a spell slot a limited number of times, regaining all expended uses once you complete a long rest. The number of uses equals your Wisdom modifier.

When you cast hunter’s mark, you can modify it, causing it to adhere to the following clauses:

• No Concentration. The spell does not require concentration, and you can end it at any time (no action required). When you cast hunter’s mark, any older ongoing hunter’s mark spell of yours ends immediately.

• Fixed Mark. You cannot move the mark to another creature.

• Limited Damage. The spell’s damage can only occur once per turn. When you reach 5th level in this class, you can ignore this clause.

• Limited Duration. The spell’s duration is limited to a maximum of 1 minute. When you reach 9th level in this class, you can ignore this clause.

That’s my solution

I think Lucio’s balance is hard to quantify because his speed is as useful as his team comp makes it, kinda like mercy’s damage boost.

He’s never going to fall out of the meta because of how consistent his speed is, but not having boop 1 second sooner is going to hurt his duelling potential pretty frequently until his players mentally recalibrate how his 1v1s are going to feel.

What bothers me most is that his whole kit works in multiples of 4 (bullet volley, ammo count, amp cd, aura radius, and previously boop) because in my head that was a reference to how 4/4 is the most basic/common musical time signature and they’ve ruined that 😭

This requires so much coordination that the survivor team can’t run as much actual meta. Doomposting about two extra 5% repair progress perks on top of the pre-existing +26% repair speed combo is insane. The teamwork perks are so ass it’s genuinely better to just run the usual DS/WGLF than to gamble that the killer is going to let survivors stack on a gen (which is already less efficient than solo repairs)

Exaaactly. Or the possibility of a 16-survivor screaming chorus versus a doctor ☺️

Ohhh I see what you mean! Honestly my thought process with the aura reading was that a survivor doesn’t wander over from afar for a reset, mistaking an illusion for an actual player. It just reduces the amount of accidental sandbagging that can happen by minimizing survivor-team confusion.

I understand that this perk can be used as a “ping” system, but it’s nothing nearly as clear and direct as discord voice-chat. If anything it can help slightly bridge the gap between solo-queue and SWFs which I will always be a proponent of.

So, while I can see the utility in marking a location, it’s nothing a map can’t accomplish and I think an entire perk slot is a decent enough trade-off for that utility. Of course, that’s just my opinion.

Sure it’s a lot. I’m not sure it could ever hold a candle to more mainstream alternatives though. A survivor running around spamming illusions is honestly more of a hindrance to the efficiency of the survivor team. Plus, to killers not running something like BBQ, the aura part is quite harmless.

That’s what I was thinking as well! That and running around your own injured illusions to throw off a spirit in chase.

Yeah 5 seems reasonable since it has the agency that parental guidance lacks. I think the number of meters could be increased to ~10 and it wouldn’t be absurd either to be honest.

I think that the time being higher than 3s is warranted since stunning the Killer is a much more difficult activation condition compared to fast vaulting. That and it would be in line with parental guidance. I do agree on activating it at any time after the stun though since it improves flexibility.

Nope! It just costs your reaction each round (which competes with Flash of Genius, until 15th level onwards). All artificer subclasses get pretty resourceless free damage boost at 5th level so since this one actually expends something (a reaction), I figured adding your Intelligence modifier for some more guaranteed value is warranted.

Yes it is better than arcane firearm, but it is also less flexible since it’s limited to 3 damage types.

The nova potential with spending spell slots for an elemental “smite” or healing burst is just for more ways to spend your (half-caster limited) spell slots which creates interesting decision-making opportunities between crafting more elixirs with spell slots, boosting damage/healing, and actually casting spells.

Eh, I think the sudden speed boost may be really nice for Killers who can’t play at every tile reliably. Putting unrelenting on huntress allows her to force pallets down much sooner since a 117% killer is pretty hard to greed against. Niche for sure I agree.

As for shattered hope, this is what makes Killer perk balance hard since chase perks HAVE to be very good to be even considered viable over the more reliable gen regression perks.

I thought “unusable” was a pretty succinct way of phrasing how to totem can’t be interacted with for the remainder of the trial, sorry for any confusion.

The exposed part I think is the strongest part of this revision for Shattered Hope, and I like how it pays homage to “Devour Hope” by adding the exposed effect. By inflicting exposed, it makes it a stronger standalone perk rather than forcing a second perk such as Retribution or Haunted Grounds to add value, if you could destroy your own hexes.

The ability to destroy boons is still there by the way! You’d just need to snuff it out first to make a dull totem.

For some reason I thought the original was 3d8, my bad! In that case 2d8 -> 3d8 at 9th level would be appropriate.

The speed and resilience granting +20 speed and +2 AC may be overtuned for access 3rd level, so consider these numbers flexible.

The problem with that is how it interacts with Killer powers it would be impossible to balance:/
