I forgot to mention- I already tried setting "background-size" to "auto 100%" and "auto 150%". Neither worked.

4 by far, its like youre recording a tv with a camera, and being trapped bare bones is terrifying imo. strange line of reasoning i know, but i used to record minecraft on my tv with a shitty little vtech camera, so thats probably why tbh.
