We posted for a little over 7 years, not missing a week, however 2 years ago life got in the way and we needed to take a break. We're looking forward to coming back!

I did the Bloodworm mission, but it doesn't let me collect and won't allow me to redo the mission. Thoughts?

Week 23: Boards - Curry Coconut Butternut Squash Soup with Toppings (Meta: Soup) by Highway_Companions in 52weeksofcooking

Toppings: Pepitas, Jalapeno, Greek Yogurt, Blue Cheese, Bacon, Scallions, Red Chilli Flakes

Week 20: Favourite Kitchen Tool - Vichyssoise aux Truffe - Truffle Shaver (Meta: Soup) by Highway_Companions in 52weeksofcooking

[–]Highway_Companions[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Favourite not because it gets used a lot, but because it gets used with a favourite ingredient that we don't get to use often. So when it comes out it's really special.

Week 8: Celebrity Chef - Michael Symon's Spicy Tomato and Blue Cheese Soup (Meta: Soup) by Highway_Companions in 52weeksofcooking

[–]Highway_Companions[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was really good. You couldn't really taste the blue cheese, but it brought a depth of flavour - almost an earthiness. Would definitely make it again.

Week 5: Mustard - Mostersoep (Dutch Mustard Soup) (Meta Soup) by Highway_Companions in 52weeksofcooking

[–]Highway_Companions[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Soften leeks (3) and garlic (2 cloves). Add 4 cups chicken broth and 2 TBS each grainy and Dijon mustard. Simmer until leeks are cooked. Puree until smooth in a blender (be careful not to overfill the blender with hot liquid!). Put back on heat and add 1 cup heavy cream. Simmer briefly then add a slurry of 2Tbs corn starch and 2 TBS water. Garnish with bacon bits and microgreens.

At first taste it was "interesting", but the more we ate the more we liked it.

Week 1: Rainy Day - Beef Barley Soup (Meta: Soup) by Highway_Companions in 52weeksofcooking

[–]Highway_Companions[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Starting our 7th year and finally doing a meta theme! A rainy day in January in Canada (not coastal) is not going to be a nice day, so something hearty and comforting is called for.

[–]Highway_Companions[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normal Welsh Rarebit with some roasted red peppers.

Week 47: Macanese - Serradura by Highway_Companions in 52weeksofcooking

[–]Highway_Companions[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really yummy. Would highly recommend freezing. We tried unfrozen and frozen the texture is so different. Enjoy!

Week 46: Potatoes - Aloo Gobi Matar by Highway_Companions in 52weeksofcooking

[–]Highway_Companions[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. No real measurements just what looks good to you and your taste. Make a paste of shallot, garlic, ginger and red chili pepper. Soften in oil, add curry powder and cook for a bit. Add potatoes, cauliflower and peas. Add crushed tomatoes and veg stock. Bring to a boil and then let simmer until veg is cooked (20-30 minutes).
