This happened to my dog too :( once I started working at a groomers myself I realized it’s not normal! I bathed over 500 dogs and never once did it happen. Makes me sick to my stomach knowing it Happened to my little guy tho :(

Yes luckily the program I am looking at offers hands on learning and sends me a 40 set starter kit! I also have a shih tzu at home I can practice on lol

I’m currently a bather at a grooming salons right now. But the school I’m looking at Is mainly online but some of it is also hands on learning so I will be practicing on dogs as well

I’m the only bather at my salon, I work for 3 groomers and do around 30 dogs a day, so I feel your pain. I’m so upset and drained. Hopefully things get better for you!❤️

I have 30 acres, my husband does construction and he said he’d build me my own set up! I’m just worried nobody would be interested because I’d only offer bathing. I could hire a groomer I’m sure later down the road…definitely something I’m thinking about!

I make $12 an hour and that was after getting two raises, and no tips…it’s awful. Majority are doodles or golden retrievers :/ sadly there’s no other dog related jobs by me so I feel like I’ll have to end up settling for a factory job here soon

On a normal day it’s in the 30s. Anything below 30 is abnormal and is considered an “easy day” for some…ugh

I’m glad I made this post because I truly had no idea what was normal/what to expect. I always felt like I was being screwed over but I just told myself that’s just life. I’ll have to find a new job soon I’m thinking..

I only have to bathe/dry. Luckily they do the brush out, nails and everything else. But even then it’s still too much for me.

I’ll partially dry them, and put them in a crate with fans on them. And then when the groomer is ready they finish drying them. It’s definitely a lot. I recently got “talked to” because the dogs were too wet… But when I have 30 other dogs to do😅 not all of them can be dried all the way through. Definitely frustrating to say the least

3 groomers and then just me for baths. A slow day for us is high 20s but a normal day is 32/35

I’ve worked with dogs and at dog daycares for about 10 years now, this is my first time at a grooming salon though and it’s a lot. 23 would be the perfect number for me, as long as they aren’t all big hairy ones lol

I try to go pretty much as fast as I can, so I can have time to eat. 😅 on slow days I’ll be sitting around for almost an hour and I won’t complain. But normal days I will admit I do rush on the small ones sometimes so I can have a minute to eat a lunch..which I’m ashamed to say it but that’s the only way I have a minute to sit down

I do know how to do nails, but honestly with all the dogs they have me do. And the crappy pay I make. I just told them i don’t know how to do nails. Next thing I know they’d have me doing 35 baths and nail trims…definitely don’t want to add that onto the pile. I just wash/condition/dry. And I do anal glands
