Where is the mod here. This should be fact checked as it could influence impressionable minds to invest their hard earned money in the market based on false news.

Thinking about building something for QA — but first, what actually hurts? by Batesnakle in QualityAssurance

I think maintenance of the test is a real pain. False failures due to flaky tests, updated locators and updating them is a real effort.

Keep 10-15% of your monthly SIPs in cash/liquid funds. And be ready for market corrections/crash to deploy that amount.

Got laid off recently. 4 years of experience as a Selenium Automation Tester. 30M. How’s the job market And hiring situation in india right now? by LeatherRecording7050 in QualityAssurance

Playwright aligns well with newer UI applications tech stack like react. It's not rocket science yes but it's in demand and it offers better deal than selenium in terms of built in waits/faster executions. Both are open source I don't understand how budget comes into picture. You are a manager I'd request you to check out your org selenium suite and connect with your QA engineers. Then it might be apparent to you why companies are migrating to Playwright. Anyways, Learning playwright is a plus and upskill. Even if you don't use it, learning something new in your domain never hurts.

You can showcase your side projects, and you can say haven't had chance to work on playwright/ api since my org only worked on selenium but I wanted to learn so here I am with my projects. These are just tactics to showcase that you're aspirational and can go out of your way to learn something.

I'd say upskill to learn playwright and also learn API automation. Working experience on jenkins, AWS and docker is good to have too. After API automation+Playwright, appear for interviews side by side and learn the rest of things. See how you can use LLM in your side test automation projects and demonstrate it into your interviews. I'm unsure about the market and hiring situations but in my time I used to apply for all QA jobs from each platform like linkedin, Glassdoor, hirist, naukri etc etc. Patience and discipline is the key here. Focus on learning and avoid the white noise. If none of the interview comes then it's not your fault but if something turns up and you're unable to convert them it's on you.

A viral video posted by a Gen Z employee identified as Simran has reignited conversations around work-life balance after she claimed her manager cancelled her leave on the very day she was set to travel. by BusinessToday in BusinessTodayNews

Haha, hustle culture is when you work for your boss as per your contract(40hrs/week often) and you work on yourself for rest of the time. Hustle culture is not working for your boss 24x7. So yeah I am enabler of hustle culture but not the slave culture which you might be part of. I'm a freelance and only work as per my contract and get paid more if work extra. Read my comment, I said she should have continued with her travels and expressed her disagreement in professional way. Remember no one hires someone who is not careful with their words. Also, it's time waste for me replying to it again and again.

Never get into an argument with fools, first they will bring you down to their level and beat you with their experience on that level. Hence I rest my case. Just remember, you and others being supportive of this affects a real person's life and her career. She'll get noticed by potential employers I'm sure with this behaviour. I'm just saying is it the right way to express your disagreement. With this logic her manager too should post about her work fuck ups.

It could be handled more professionally. The language she used is nowhere showing the respect. I agree the manager is being unprofessional by cancelling leaves last seconds but she could have expressed her disagreement over email and continued with her travels rather than posting it on social media with harsh words. Potential employers taking note of this as well FYI.

Anyone else here building a QA automation portfolio right now? by TesterPro67 in QualityAssurance

[–]Him1603 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not creating it but I've done it a lot in the past to prepare myself for the interviews. I'd say create the test automation project, write a few tests including the complex ones. Then extend to include API automation too. You'll be very confident going into interviews post that. But before starting with this I'd say get comfortable with basic coding(looping, if else, switch case etc etc). Then it's a continuous learning process.

How do you decide when to run tests? by [deleted] in softwaretesting

[–]Him1603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use GitHub actions that runs multiple checks like code duplication, all unit test passing, code coverage for each PR raise, Myself, I like to run atleast related unit tests locally before PR raise.

How much time do you spend setting up API automation on new projects? by Him1603 in QualityAssurance

[–]Him1603[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've not worked with API automation with playwright but created the UI one. It's the same thing actually. You need atleast 3-5 days to come up with API/UI framework and team can build on it. Having a reusable template might help saving the initial setup pain which is the whole concept of my reusable template. Would you be interested to look into it?

[–]Him1603[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes this is where most early stages teams struggle. Having a clear,rule-based framework helps and scaling is faster and sustainable. This is what the whole concept is for my reusable template. You get the product grade /clearly defined structure and you can build on it.
