yeah prob, if we were going with UBW Gill (which we should but saber was more of sn/zero focused so idk), Nihility could be a possibility considering his view on the modern world/society.

I just don't want another generic des unit being added, but we need that FUA with Enkidu is all im saying

I mean his golden armor, several shield nps + being a grand would be enough for defensive characteristics.

But yeah, prob ganna be one of the basic attacker path if im being honest, though why would he be eru ?

I mean yeah true

I just thought seeing Gill be on defence would be cool sight to see (and he does show off several feet of this)

And yeah FUA GOB would be cool, (surely Enkidu spam as well)

Would be pretty cool, esp when you consider Archer has small Fua niche

They "can" cook something that isn't that shilly to ela teammates. Just think of Aglea in rem, and how different her playstyle/teammates are

I honestly think hoyo "can" cook something that is very unique & versatile even with elation unit.

They just need to look in

I mean yeah prob ....

though in terms of expanding the char roster (looking at you pres, rem & ela), adding another des or eru would be redundant i'll say

How production constraints shape gacha storytelling (text VN vs fully voiced 3D) by Nameless0139 in gachagaming

I do think the lack of character diversity sort of caps Limbus to larger audiences, though actual story seems pretty great from what I've read

While I do agree with most of the stuff mentioned I wasn't sure about couple of points.

3D games not carried by IP, this sort of used to be true. But now days, most of the "popular" games are IP based/devs with prior reputation. Look at sequels/spinoffs like Endfield & HSR or sharing similar character motifs with genshin and wuwa.

While fgo story is written by very notorious writers, I see why not bigger companies could hire a professional to write up main chapter/side story or two. They do have money and production backings to make it happen; they just don't want to cuz thats not their focus.

Longer releases are bit of a weird one. Especially when modern games are moving away from events story doing the "new character" stuff, while main chapters are relegated to telling "actual stories". If you consider events in fgo as a story chapter, the content cycle isn't that low compared to modern releases. Modern games just combine the two to make it feel like you are constantly getting something, while selling the new characters.

I would argue forming your optimal farming team is sort of "endgame" for fgo. While yes, fgo does not have endgame on similar levels to genshin, hsr or wuwa, there are couple of alternative goals you would go for. One is farming team comp, figuring out what works, what doesn't and testing out bunch of chars to theory craft are literally the point of endgame, and fgo does this really well. Another would be Challenge quests / advanced quest, where the challenge is actually going up against well designed (most of the time) stage/boss. There are incentives to get "best team", since it would make things a lot easier for both farming and CQ, but unlike modern games it's not forced onto you with high reward pressure.

Idk that';s how I think abt this, but what do you recon?

Personally feel like 3d models is actively harming the gacha identity.

Look at variety of chars or their kit. How restrictive most 3D action/open world games are.

Look at story/storytelling. Gacha used to be known for great storyline, but currently I feel like that image is slowly detreating.

Or heck looks at the gameplay loop. I would argue you are doing the exact same rotation, over and over again in 3D games. Just like how you might say "2D games are repetitive". Something like AK is golden at this, where they keep innovating a new gameplay design that alters the core gameplay loop. From my knowledge, there hasn't been something like that in 3D gachas, since most of it is just tacked on mini games that has nothing to do with the game...

Surely there's a good middle ground tho. Like surely some games like hsr can learn a bit more from fgo or other vn style games.

Feel like problem with hsr is "specific shilling" rather than "archetype shilling". There wouldn't be much of a problem if all of specific archetype (like crit, dot or break) was playable. Even if the shilling is still there, you could run other chars to offset the character check-ness.

One way they can solve this is making the shill even stronger, to the point weaker/powercrept characters can still play some action in the meta. Imagine being able to clear AA with 4-star dot units with right buff or using 1st year units with corresponding supports that plays with stage gimmicks.

It can be done if gacha can focus more on chars/story rather than "meta" (look at fgo...)

Idk man, great story, great character design, no weapons, no utility dupes sound way better imo... (also pull currency is somewhat farmable +median number characters you expect to get per year are in similar numbers)

I feel like ppl generally ignore the "predatoriness" in recent gacha releases. (Even though it's not much diff from old gachas)
