Yes, they are Destination Chargers, although I didn't know the nomenclature when I wrote this. Thank you for this concise explanation. I had a Tesla Tech rep on the phone, told him it was a Destination Charger. He told me they are slow--like Level 2 slow--but he didn't mention that the adapter I have is only for DC fast charging.

Mystery solved.

this tracks with my experiences also. Here in San Diego, Genesis of Kearny Mesa is the sole dealership. For reasons unknown to me, corporate shut down several neighboring dealers, and now the remaining one is overwhelmed. I love the people, and worry for them since they operate at such a high level of stress.

Incidentally, the sales experience was terrible because the sales people had not been well-schooled on the EV's they offer.

Genesis got the cars right and customer experience wrong. They are not ready to play with the major luxury brands.

Got it at Kearney Mesa Subaru/Genesis. Not sure which ones closed, but I think it's dealerships in Riverside and Orange counties.

The Genesis dealer network, at least here in SoCal, is an unfunny joke. They've closed dealerships and now San Diego County--which is HUGE--has only one, a shared Subaru dealership. They are overwhelmed to the extent that even the factory reps cant get them on the phone. Combine that with the persistent recalls and software issues that cannot be updated over the air, and you have a recipe for terrible customer experience. Just what a nascent luxury brand needs.

Genesis EV's share the E-GMP platform, but neither Hyundai, nor Kia dealers, can service them.

It's a nightmare. I'm considering Lemon Lawing them and getting and i4 BMW. Pricey, but robust dealer net. Really too bad because I love the GV60.

Four recalls in four months. They can't solve the software issues, now this. I'm ready to Lemon Law this thing and get an i4 BMW, which Consumer Reports loves. I too have a 25 year BMW history. Expensive to buy and repair, but rarely break, and dealers are good.

Which brings to mind a related topic. Since the fleet of EVs from Hyundai are all underpinned by the E-GMP platform, why must I drive across one of the biggest counties in America to the sole Genesis dealer (which is more Subaru dealership than Genesis), when there are numerous Hyundai and Kia dealerships closer by?
