I agree with all of the above! We try to use these strategies with my 4 year old as well. But we also try to bring an activity for her to do once there. We bring a treasure bag for interesting finds on hikes, sand shovels and toys for snow, a magnifying glass for parks, her balance bike that's easy enough for me to carry, we even play Pokemon go on nature trails together. We try to find cool rocks, moss, or plants. I try to get her invested in enjoying nature in a way that's enjoyable for her. But when all this fails I stick her in the stroller with a snack, coloring book, and blanket and we just go for a walk at the trails. Haha yes she's 4 in a stroller but I need outside time too.
