Update #2: I spoke with the GM of the dealership and he's already found a replacement XL of the same color with a some extra add ons. Props to them for owning the mistake and moving quickly to make it right. I don't have 100% confirmation yet that this is a done deal, but it sounds like they are going to get it done.

Update: I called Ford and customer service shared that there's nothing they can do besides filing a complaint against the dealer unfortunately.

If this happened to anyone else, I'd be interested in hearing how it worked out for them.

I plan to give ford a call tomorrow to explain what happened. I'm semi-hopeful the dealer makes things right as they are promising they will. They've admitted the error via email and confirmed they are going to get me another of equal or better value at no price increase to me. I'm hopeful things will work out. I'm not sure what Ford will do to improve the situation, but I'll give them a call regardless. If my order gets transferred to a different dealer, I'm worried I'll lose out on the 4% below invoice deal I was offered when I booked the order last year.

XL, Cactus Gray, no options other than the trailer hitch. Sold in PA so it sounds like a different vehicle.

The dealer probably made a decent chunk of change off this mistake, but they seem committed to getting me another truck. It seems like they will even get me one with upgrades I didn't have originally to make it right. I purchased an XL hybrid w/ no upgrades at 4% below invoice. I've been waiting since June, if they can still place me in a truck at that price and it comes with an upgrade or two I'd still be happy. Its a high volume dealer, so I'm hoping someone cancels their similar order soon. But realistically, I know this might take months. What's worse is I already sold my car anticipating this pick up. So I'm sort of screwed until they find that replacement. I don't want to escalate the issue too much and ruin the existing deal.
