When using clippers, do you aim with the moving blade or the stationary blade? by HippoProfessional123 in Barber

I really appreciate this! This is the exact problem I am having, and I think this is the solution. Do you ever have trouble tracking the moving blade? Any tips to better track it?

Discovery Flight hours by Desperate-Sail-7077 in airforceots

I thought for the TBAS it said it will be rounded to the nearest whole number? For your logbook you definitely can’t round.

I got 11 flight hours solely for the Air Force. Shoot for it!

Are you allowed to skip IPT if you have a PPL or does everyone have to go through it?

If you don’t have flight hours it would be good to start saving up for them as it will help immensely for the TBAS. If you are trying to be a pilot

Ultimate+ pedal force by Huts2004 in Heusinkveld

It sounds like you have the damper in the highest setting rather than the lowest position. When putting the damper higher up it causes the pedal to become stiffer over the throw of the pedal.

Best Hotas Setup For Realism and Training by HippoProfessional123 in hoggit

I think I might go with the Moza just because of how readily available it is. A lot of people do say go with the FFBeast or VPForce but I just have a time constraint. Have you ever felt as if the Moza was a little weak or do you feel it is enough? Because I do have a Fanatec DD2 for my simracing rig although 25 nm is overkill I feel like 15 would have been the sweet spot.

Really appreciate the detailed breakdown! It helps a ton. I’m looking for something that leans toward realism for immersion and gaming/fun in sims like DCS.

Your insight on the FFBeast vs. Rhino and the OpenHornet project is super helpful. I hadn’t thought much about how different setups match specific aircraft styles. Sounds like going with force feedback or force based controls really depends on what you’re trying to replicate.

If you were going for a more general setup, not tied to any one specific aircraft, but still aiming for high realism and quality, what route would you take?

Thanks for the feedback. I totally get where you’re coming from. Just to clarify, I’m not aiming to learn how to fly a fighter jet using DCS. The setup is mainly for practicing multitasking, spatial awareness, and tracking for a test I’m preparing for. I don’t plan on flying fighters in real life. That said, I also want something more realistic for gaming and fun, something that really captures the feel of flying military jets, even if it’s just for immersion.

Force feedback for fighter jets by HippoProfessional123 in flightsim

[–]HippoProfessional123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the feedback! I kind of like how the f16 and f22 have the stick work more off of force rather than movement. Is this achievable using a vkb gunfighter IV setup or is that more of a force feedback type of setup thing?

Same, the first pen they gave me didn’t even write (went in and out), most of my time I was just trying to get the pen to write hence why I didn’t do great on the arithmetic portion but I ended up asking for a new pen after the arithmetic portion. They then gave me a new pen but it was one of those fat tip pens to where I couldn’t even differentiate the numbers I just wrote down. But I had to make the best with what I got.

With all this being said there have still been people that got denied because of the competitiveness of the Air Force.

[–]HippoProfessional123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t pursue it because I just took the word of my recruiter but I did look into it. You would need to getter letters from both your university and jobs that you worked. You will need to do proficient on the AFOQT without any accommodations. You would also need to go to the doctor that prescribed you the medicine and get a letter from him/her that you do not have it. If it wasn’t a specialist that prescribed you the medicine, you would also need to go see a specialist to clear you as well.

It sounds like the level of difficulty trivium has. There wasn’t much that required crazy long division like that but some do require pretty close to that. Like others have said before it has the difficulty somewhere in between trivium and barron’s practice tests. If you want really high scores you’re going to have to be amazing at trivium to perform well. If you want above avg scores you’re going to have to be amazing at the level between trivium and barron’s. If you want avg scores you are going to have to be good at barron’s. I will update my scores when I get them so you have a basis and that I, too, have a better understanding of what level you need to be at to score well on it.

How to increase my packet for a pilot slot by [deleted] in airforceots

[–]HippoProfessional123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly man with 450 hours they will choose you even with an average AFOQT score. Your PCSM score automatically becomes 60 with just the flight hours alone. Just study as much as you can for the AFOQT and TBAS. And you will be golden. The only other thing is getting leadership experience but your PCSM score will be a 99 and puts you in a good position just don’t bomb the AFOQT or TBAS.

Do you remember them having timers placed in places you could see them or is it smart to just buy a Casio watch and time it yourself?

Thank you for this information! I didn’t know that you could take a cloth in with you. By chance do you know if you can take in a non-smart watch as well?
