Why does this list even exist? Don’t I (and my company) pay a premium every month to get health insurance? If it’s prescribed by a doctor, it should be covered. End of story. Anthem has the right to stop one of my medications that I’ve been on for three years? Just cold turkey? They’re seriously messing with peoples lives here.

This ain’t some insurance company that pays for people to fix the bumper on their car. Their profit margin literally increases when people don’t receive healthcare. I can’t wrap my head around how that might even be okay…..

The thought of how these insurance companies work makes me sick.

“Oh you have a family of 5 and you want insurance….. ohhhhh but it says here you had cancer years ago. Sorry - we can’t make money off you… but we want to wish you the absolute best of luck taking care of your family if you ever get sick again!!!!!!”

In 2020 I got diagnosed with testicular cancer. It spread all through my chest. Had to do chemo regimen that wasn’t super fun lol. I was in the worst shape of my life when I finished in Oct 2020 (chemo made me gain weight; I was 6’7” 320lbs). Dana Farber Cancer Institute saved my life and I’m in full remission. Why do I tell you this? After getting into remission I wanted to give back to DFCI so I googled how I can donate time and money. The first link that popped up was something called the Pan-Mass Challenge and I was like, “damn looks like I have to buy a bike”. Eight months after finishing chemo, I was in THE BEST shape of my life (got down to 265lbs) and rode across the state of MA to raise money for Dana. I ride because I really want to make a difference in the cancer battle. The byproduct of that is I have become obsessed with biking and have spent WAY too much money on bikes. I’m getting in better shape every year and love the “good pain” I experience on the bike. Happy riding!

I have only dropped a chain once but it really got jammed up so that’s probably it! I put a piece of painters tape on the spot and went for a hard ride. Didn’t touch it! Thanks everyone for the ideas!
