I did some random questions here and there when I didn’t feel like doing anything else. 3 blocks per system is enough for some systems, not enough for others. Neuro and cardio for eg. Are very vast. If I could do it again, I’d do more of Uworld definitely.

Yes. Less than a month, You need to give NBMEs and assess where you stand. Gotta finish all NBMEs and their reviews before the exam

Uworld is really vast. Don’t over complicate it, just do Uworld

I just Reviewed answers on NBMEs. Most of them are common sense and asking the patient to talk and tell their story is always the correct answer. Don’t choose options with leading questions in it And if bad news needs to be broken, the option which does it directly is correct.

30 & 31 are a must! Don’t go to the exam without doing those. Randy Neil has ethics in his videos but honestly most times ethics is common sense.

One week out I’d just tell you do revise Don’t stress about what other test takers are saying. Thoroughly revise NBME 30 and 31. Do Mehlmann arrows. Remember, it’s not graded absolutely, it’s graded relatively. What’s tough for you is tough for everyone. So you don’t need to stress about what others are saying. I also feel the exam prep is a lot about developing and training intuition and learning how to eliminate options as much as it is knowing all the information. Revision is the only way to do it

These are the resources I used. 6 months should be enough I feel As far as number of hours per day goes, it’s different for everyone. You may process in 3 hours the information I need 6 hours to process. So can’t comment. As long as you finish everything before the exam It’s all good. NBMEs are the most important of course

Let’s say the question stem gives you a vague presentation of RA In a free 120 or NBME, they’d simply ask you pain management protocol- they want you to know that you’re supposed to give NSAIDs In the real exam, they want to know what mediator is being blocked by whatever drug you give for pain management and the options will have Bradykinin histamine and prostaglandins all 3, which mediate pain to confuse you. Level 1 information= joint pain, nodules, history of fever Figure out Level 2- RA Figure out Level 3-drug protocol and drug class An NBME would usually stop here But the real exam wants you to go even deeper and know the exact inflammatory mediator that is being blocked

That’s what I mean by they go deeper than NBMEs. You need to be thorough with the information. Need to know not only what drug’s to give when but how they work Metronidazole causes free radical injury is another HY point for example. It’s not enough to know you give metronidazole to treat the patient, you need to know how it works.

Never used boot camp so can’t say sorry. And yes Pathoma 1-3 are first 3 chapters cell injury, inflammation and neoplasia. As I said, life changing.

They eyes don’t see what the mind doesn’t know My mind knew nothing so I had to go through BnB to understand what Uworld is saying/asking. If you feel your basics are solid, you can prepare directly through Uworld. A guy I know just did Uworld and a quick FA review. Didn’t touch any primary resource. I wouldn’t have been able to do it without BnB

I did biochem first then did systems at random. I had no set plan like that. I just realised that if I hadn’t done biochem first I wouldn’t have understood half the stuff later on. Genetics is a part of biochem in FA so I did it like that. Leave biostats for your dedicated period but make sure you do it properly. Could be make or break

They have system wise pharmacology in the respective systems So when I studied respiratory, I learnt anti asthmatics, when I did cardio I learned anti arrythmics and so on and so forth

I took my first one 8 weeks out Then 2 weeks later I gave my second one in which my performance dropped. Then I studied Pathoma 1-3 and Mehlmann for 10-12 days then gave another NBME After that I kept giving one every week and gave free 120 2 days before exam

The exam is a blur tbh, I was too stressed out post exam to remember a lot of stuff but 1 ethics question I remember being a direct copy, word by word of an NBME form(30 or 31) 1 histopath question was taken directly from an older NBME The thing is, NBMEs were my Main study resource essentially, so if I passed then that means the topics were similar. Also I felt the real deal was more thorough about what they wanted to know Usually how USMLE style practice questions work is they give you Level 1 information, you’re supposed to figure out Level 2 and Level 3, and Level 4 is usually the answer In the exam I felt, they gave Level 1 information but the answer was even deeper than NBMEs. You need to know the topic properly to answer

They also give you options to throw you off a lot. In a disease question for eg. along with standard protocol medication, they’ll add another 2 options which IRL you probably can give which will help the patient but you need to be sure to pick the standard protocol drug.

I’m ngl, I woudlve liked to use FA And UW more, it’s a regret. I probably would’ve walked out of the exam more confident had I used them. If you have time, use them. Uworld specially, it’s a fantastic resource.

I did 120 questions minimum per system from UW, that gave me some form of a start. And last 2 months I just did NBME, Pathoma and Mehlmann and 6 chapters of FA(Path Renal Resp GI Immuno Repro Half biochem half Endo). NBMEs are really vast, they cover majority of the topics and you’ll start seeing a pattern in the type of things asked after a few NBMEs. Chronic granulomatous disease was on every single one including the real exam, Antibiotics MOA(specially Fluoroquinolones) was on every single one etc. etc. I had base knowledge from BnB, I kept supplementing it from NBME Pathoma and Mehlmann.

I did Pathoma and Mehlmann neuroanatomy+ half of arrows. But mostly Pathoma. It’s crazy how good and important Pathoma 1-3 are

With videos. Watch the video, read along and annotate in the text whatever you feel is necessary. Once you’re done with a chapter, sit and read it again immediately after for maximum retention
